I am planning my first ever trip to Tijuana to hit up Hong Kong club and find out what all the excitement is about.

Based on my work schedule and availability, I'm thinking about heading down during the week during the day. Maybe it just seems safer to go down to Tijuana during the daylight hours instead of on a Saturday night. ? I recommend you take the trolley and walk across the border. Walking is the better option since there is a shorter wait and the cops will not hassle you driving in TJ. You also do not have to buy Mexican insurance as well. I also recommend you take Uber or on of the taxi vans that say Centro (downtown TJ). You should be safe visiting the Zona by yourself. It is always a good idea to see who is walking behind you in the Zona. The Zona safe. But there is the occasional uptick in muggings. The good thing is that there has not been any recently. The wait times can crossing back into the US are longerduring the day. This is why I usually cross around 9 or later. BBJ's are safe. But I think BBFS is dumb. The chances of catching HIV.

The main thing is be aware of your surrounding & always look to see who is walking behind you. The Zona is fairily safe. But you never know when there is a possible uptick in crime. The other thing is to not do dumb things like walk around drunk or urinate in street etc. The cops just waiting to extort bribes.

I went to Tijuana for the first time last month. If you are going to go, go on a Friday or Saturday night. I parked at the Gateway parking, if you are facing the Jack in the box, the parking lot is to the left, don't use the parking lot behind the Jack in the box. If you park there the border is right across the street. Once you enter into Mexico, you will run right into the Zona Shuttle, just take that to HK, it's free but tip the driver a few bucks, use the shuttle to go back as well, they drop you right at the border. Make sure to bring lots of $1's, everyone and I mean everyone will ask for a tip. $250 should be plenty of money for what you want to do. My first time going was a Friday night at 1030 pm, felt safe the whole trip back and forth. The line back to US walking in was short, was only me and the 6 guys that rode back in the shuttle. I went again on Sunday night and when I was coming back to the US border around 5 am Monday morning the line was like 2 to 3 miles long, luckily I have global entry so I walked right in. Some other tips: When you walk in to the HK, find the nearest bar and buy a drink, and always have a drink in your hand. You can baby the drink all night if you want but it necessary to have a drink in hand. This will keep the bar server guys from bothering you as much. Also if they ask you if you want to get a table, say no unless you are ready to entertain a girl you want to go next door with. Last thing is bring your passport, I had no trouble getting into Mexico (the agent didn't even look at my documents, just waved me through both times) but I did get harassed by US custom agents going back in. They were turning away people without passports when I went.
