Corporate news medias' attempted lynching!!
It seems like 'BIG BROTHER" has finally CENSORED Craigs list. R.I.P.
One more example of the Government's right wing imposing it's version of morality on the right of free speech.
Meanwhile while they divert your attention, Congress sells their tight little asses to the highest corporate bidder, who's the HO.
At least when you got FKD on C/L it was fun and didn't hurt.
Of course this will have no effect at all on online prostitution but the Attorneys general will have something to brag about in their re-election campaigns.
What a phony hypocritical country we have become.
There is an old saying in the newspaper business "When the Myth becomes
reality print the Myth". I can't wait to see all the snow about the "Great
Victory" over the online villain ,Craigs List.---VS
If you noticed any prostitution arrest/sting articles in the past always mentioned CRAIGSLIST in darker, bold, print. Even if the other online sources were barely mentioned. The news media has an axe to grind with CL. Remember, they were the tralblazing pioneers who allowed the public a free venue for something they were accustomed to paying newspapers to post. In other words, as CL became more popular, the newspapers saw their ad revenues dwindle, causing some of them to shut down. Since most of those newspapers are also owned by the mainstream media giants, who failed at various attempts to acquire CL. That's the reason there's a united front, on their part. When they're portraying CL negatively, and showing this minor setback for CL, as the end of the website as a whole. Shame on them!
SP
I'm not even mad at the media/gov on this
Look. CL has been facilitating an illegal activity.
Too me, fighting the issue regarding this one website is just a distraction. Trying to win the battle while ignoring the war.
Anyone who is publicly trying to change the culture/environment we are in should be focusing on legalizing the activity. Then these other smaller pieces would all fall into place.
Hate to break it to you but.
that's exactly right. before the interenet, the primary place for escorts to advertise in, in many places was the personal ads in the classified ad section of news papers. now people get there news on the internet for free and advertise for a lot less than the newspapers charged for their tiny little ads. they hate the internet and especially hate craigslist.
back page is owned by the village voice one of new york cities biggest papers.
there is so much media today that they will just about print anything (tabloids) or say anything (fox news. the sentinal will not take escort ad's nor will the orlando weekly so why would anyone think that there is a correlation between attorney's general going after craigs list and the media. this is just another example of the govt. using a false premise (**** girls) to promote a political agenda, anyone watching the election ad's on tv will see what i mean. "rick scott. largest medicare fraud ever! alex sink rode airplanes for free at "your" expense".
or joe blow your attorney general helped take down a website that advertised "**** girls" for the purpose of prostitution-re-elect joe blow he will keep your daughter safe!
get the picture-vs
I don't disagree with you but.

get the picture-vs
i was only saying the the newspaper covereage of events surrounding craigslist is extremely slanted. major newspapers including the the parent company of the sentinal (tribune co) have gone into bancruptcy due in large part to losses in subscribers and losses in classified advertsing. more people get thier news for free on the internet and do not buy newspapers. craigslist made a big dent in their revenue from classified ads. your point about backpage helps make the point. you barely hear about them or the other internet sites like escorts. com in the coverage, but craigslist is in big headlines, because it helped put a nail in the coffin of the traditional newpaper. way before this latest round of busts occurred, most of the prostitution activity had shifted to bp and no doubt le is using bp for their stings, yet the headlines and newspaper stories are mostly about evil craigslist.
