Yes, but that takes work. When someone asks something like that on here, they're just wanting quick specifics or exact places. It's usually answers they could already know had they read the forum. In that respect, I'm going to repost my SW Guide in the user topics underneath the Birmingham threads again. Seems it got taken down for whatever reason. The copy I have is an older copy than the one I last revised on the site, but it's probably mostly the same info, but it's better than nothing. I'll update it later on.

I saw (not seen) two BSW at the crappy gas station where trucks park for the night. One with a guy, one without. Neither I'd get anywhere close to. The guy called out to me as I drove through, which I don't understand. Would someone stop at a dark gas station at night and talk to some dude? Is that what he expects to happen?

There's lots of people that ride the dope areas looking for the crack dealer or whatever drug of their choice, and they think anybody that looks out of place is looking for girls or dope. Then they'll hit you up for a few dollars for helping you out. Guys, or even other girls, walking with a SW is a deal breaker for me in picking someone up. I want them to be alone, with no one else to have to worry about, or know that they're trying to get back to quick.

Drove up 1st Ave, yesterday about 3 PM. WSW redhead sitting on the corner across from the 8 motel. She looked okay so I waved but she didn't seem interested. Then when I passed the motel LEO was busting a guy (s) in the motel parking lot. Whew, close one. On up at the I20 bridge fat BSW about a -3, 2 black girls standing in doorways of the motel on the right, up around 68St. The older WSW red head that's usually works that area.

I updated the Where to Find SW in Birmingham post, so it's hopefully current with names of gas stations and restaurants and the like. I also switched around the numbering so it goes from most likely to least likely of where to search and get a hit. Basically if no one knows the area, it's always best to just ride 1st Avenue North in the Woodlawn and East Lake areas. I can honestly say the pickings are slim, and few and far between, when out mongering this day and time. Though they're still out there, and you can occasionally still find a diamond in the rough.

Not to worry, I won't ask stupid questions or try and gain illicit info. Been following Birm board for 2 years. Begin taking the 1st Av route (south) from Trussville almost every weekend that I am in Birm. Always stop at the Mcdonalds for a piss break and large fries. Yet to see anything in the Woodlawn area, but also have not ventured off 1st, and have never trolled after dark.

So question is, why do I like trolling for SW? LOL. Been on the international hobby scene for 20 years, but that's like shooting fish in barrel.

Maybe it's the fact it's so stupidly illegal here in the USA That makes it sonintrigueing. I don't know, but I will ponder the subject as I am trolling again today.

Why does someone monger for SW? For me, it's never knowing what you're going to find. It's also relaxing to take a ride, listening to talk radio and puffing on a cigarillo. At least that's what I do. Whether I find a SW or not, the ride gets me away from my everyday life for a bit, and away from stress and anxiety I deal with. I also enjoy looking for what girls might be out there. I remember several times I've left the house and in the first five minutes of my drive I found a knockout, and honestly I was disappointed because I hadn't even began my ride. Plus, when you monger, you're window shopping. You see who the girl is and can decide if she's worth stopping for just by looking at her. No answering ads with gifs and pictures of random legs or adult film stars. It's why I'll never partake in answering BP, CL or whatever escort ads. First, most of the ads don't have pictures, and when they do it's usually not the person you're going to get when you show up. Second, they charge WAY too much for what it's worth, and you never know if you're going to just get what would normally be a plain old SW at trumped up prices. And third, to me answering one of those ads there's way more possibility of being caught up in a sting, as you have no idea what's behind that door. I've seen too much of that mess on Cops and shows like it. With picking up SW, they're in my control. Because most times I'm not going to even entertain the offer of going to their room or house. No, they're going where I want to go. And most times, I'll ask them what they would like for payment, and it's less than I was thinking in the first place. So to me it makes no sense to answer ads unseen and pay .70$#86748 whatever for ones who's probably going to not perform any better than the ones you find on the street. Nowadays people starting out mongering for girls, it probably makes no sense to look for SW. It's not the same as when I started almost 30 years ago. Hell, it's not the same as it was 15 years ago. But for long time mongerers, just getting out there and looking, that's what it's about. It's calming and fun, and gets you away from the everyday stresses, regardless if you find a girl or not.

Yet more mongering areas are drying up. I was on the west side yesterday and noticed the apartments that sit between Tuscaloosa Avenue & Cotton Avenue were being cleaned out. The whole back side on Cotton Avenue where the riff raff always hung around is now boarded up. I also noticed the following article in the paper the other day, where a development is going to be built in Avondale where the Star Motel currently sits.

Also of interest, looking up the article above, I thought the Star was called the Star Inn, and looked that up. In doing so, I came upon this 'study' that was done back in 2010 or so. It was mainly about the sexual exploitation of children in Jefferson County, but it also listed many other aspects of drug use, prostitution and the like, such as where they thought the 'high incidence prostitution areas' were. If you look on page 22 of the study, I wonder where they got their information. It came from here, and from me. So they didn't actually research this, they went to our forum and took our word for it. What's funny is four of the eight places they listed are places you'll really NOT find any SW walking. It just was places I'd seen girls off and on in my years of mongering, and places to check if you were in the area. It's funny, these organizations that try to paint a bleak and dark picture about things such as this, get their information from nothing but hearsay and their own jaded opinions. If they wanted to find out SW areas, they should have asked the police and gotten it from them, but then that would be too easy. Plus the cops probably wouldn't have given that out, as doing so would be acknowledging the areas of prostitution, and maybe giving out new areas we might not know of.

Had some time to kill this morning at sunrise, so I decided to take the 1st Ave cruise. Going south from Roebuck and the loop around airport rd. Absolutely no one on the street. Decided I wasted my time, but going back north on 1st spotted a WSW near 60th. Walking south, gave her a wave and she pointed toward the gas station on on the corner. Looped around and parked, she came on over. Really cute, dark auburn hair in a pony tail, tight black jeans and a sweat shirt, nice teeth. Said her name was Amy or Angie. Got in said she was freezing asked if she wanted some coffee, said no thanks she just needed a ride. Thought that was it, but what the hell, said sure where to. She said 22nd street and 5th Ave and. She asked me what I was doing out this early. Told her I was just cruising to see what was going on. Said she had a big fight with her boyfriend, since he was a drunk and need the ride to her girlfriends house. Well, I ramble on. I start to get on I20 and she say no go the back way down airport. Made the right at Woodlawn HS and off came her shirt. She much have been really pissed at her boyfriend, 'cause I got road head down to 43st, where I could no longer restrain my boys. No spit, no wiping off, just licked her lips and smiled. Got to 22nd and 5th, she said thanks, hopped out and off she went. Man am I glad I decided to drive back up 1st instead of taking I59. If that happened, I would say 5th Ave. North. It's a block down from the First Light & the other women's shelter. A lot of times when SW, or some girl just needing a ride, are in my vehicle and I take them to where they want to go, it's never exactly where they intend to end up at. Lots of times when I drop someone off, I'll circle around and they'll be walking down the road or going into a house a few houses down from the one they were acting like was theirs. Who knows, though. I've found out all the mongering stories I read on here, are no more than something interesting to read. Lots of times there's no specifics and it's just oh I saw a good looking girl on 1st Avenue. Unless someone has an actual number of a girl, saying that it was a white girl with brown hair near McDonalds in the late afternoon doesn't really help. It tells me there's still girls in the neighborhood, but really that's the way it's been for many years now. Not since we had mongering regulars like myself, Spiderman, Woody Uno, Bladtinzu, jc34, Master Driller, Niteluvr have there really been mongerers who knew the girls we were talking about by name. I can remember the days when I could say sweat pants Amie and everyone knew who I was talking about. Grandma, Kim, Tire Store Cindy, those were all regular SWs. Nowadays all the girls either stay inside the motels, or aren't discussed, so no one knows who's really being talked about anymore. Not to mention that every one of the ones I mentioned above either don't monger anymore, only do the escort scene now, rarely post anymore, or are no longer on the board.

So they keep posting these articles about new businesses moving into Avondale / Woodlawn, as well as new housing. Do they not realize where they're putting all this? The box row thing they're putting in Avondale is where the Star Motel is now, but tearing that down doesn't change the neighborhood surrounding it. Neither does putting in the new houses in Woodlawn change the fact that not even a block away sits three motels with prostitutes and drug dealers inside them. Those of you who monger, ride around Woodlawn and see where they put all those new houses. What's funny to me is it looks like they just dropped them all down and left the blighted areas around them. I guess there's going to be early 20's white couples moving into them that have no idea what's in the neighborhoods surrounding them, and then it'll be shocking when one of those couples goes to walk the dog a little past dusk and they're mugged / murdered. All these kumbaya attitudes of today is making younger people ignorant of their surroundings. It's like Spider Man said about Avondale a while back. They believe by bringing new businesses to the ghetto it will create jobs for the habitants, not even realizing most of them don't have the basic educations required for employment. How did you know where to look back then?

I know it wasn't exactly the stone ages but it had to be tougher to get information back then about where to go. I imagine TV reports and the newspapers helped identify some streets and areas but they don't tell nearly everything. Did you just have to ride around the city to discover all of the possible hotspots?

I can imagine if I went back in time 25 or 30 years when I didn't have the internet, it would have taken me a long time and a whole lot of time spent riding around all over the city to find the right spots on my own.

It was actually much easier then.

It wasn't as hard as it might seem. Nowadays, the internet has gotten people comfortable in finding everything with just a few key taps, and that's all well and good. But before the internet, there was mainly word of mouth. In the case of mongering, and the local SW scene, I grew up hearing jokes in grammar school about how you could go down to 4th Avenue and find prostitutes. Everybody knew 4th & 5th Avenues downtown were where hookers hung out. So when I got of age and got curious, that's where I went. Back then, you could go to 4th & 5th Avenues and find no less than 3 to 5 girls walking at all times, all hours of the night. The place to go was the block around where the Granada Hotel and Grammas' Bar were. This was the square block around 4th & 5th Avenues North between 24th & 23rd Streets. The Granada Hotel is now where the First Light is, and that's where lots of the SW stayed and hung out at the door. Grammas' Bar was where the mini park across from the post office is now. Imagine the Tide & Tiger bar being pulled up and sat on that corner. That's what Grammas' looked like. Girls also hung out around Grammas and could run inside if it got 'hot' outside. There was also a three story low class run down motel on the corner of 5th Avenue & 23rd Street, that's now a parking lot where the drive thru bank thing is. You also had the projects, I think they were called Metropolitan Gardens back then, which were around where old Phillips High and the baseball field is. There was also a little store on the corner of 6th & 23rd Street where girls hung out. The building is still there, but I think the store's long been closed. You could also find girls sitting out on the front steps of this brown church across from the YMCA, as back then they used to have a shelter in their basement. Grammas' Bar burned in 92 or 93 or so, and the Granada followed soon after that. So that did away with a lot of the dives the girls could go into if it got hot. But with the projects still there, the girls could still be found. About 10-15 years ago, they tore down the projects and replaced them with some higher class condominiums, which made most of the riff raff move away, and since then the 4th & 5th Avenue area has been almost completely dead. Now if you find any girls out there, it's girls that's staying at the First Light or Jessie's Place sitting in the mini park, and even then you're not guaranteed they're working.

Once I made myself familiar with that area, I learned of other areas nearby. The areas back then which were hot were the Tourway Inn down by 65, which is still there, and the Town Motel over on 3rd Avenue West, which is also still there. You used to be able to ride through both of those, as they once had entrances and exits which allowed cars to circle through. You still can the Tourway to an extent, and the Town with a degree of difficulty. But back then the Town had both sides open, and the Tourway had the far side open so you didn't have to ride by the office twice. You also were guaranteed to see girls pop out the door as you passed. They've since closed off those easy access and get out points, and made it so I don't go inside ones like that anymore. Plus back then the cops didn't seem to notice or care when people rode through the motels like they do nowadays. The Tourway has been dead for years, as I haven't seen a girl hang out there in probably 15 or more years. The Town is basically the same. So anyway, finding all that out that ventured me out toward the west side, and got me accustomed to where the girl were out in those areas. Then one day just out of the blue I noticed riding there were girls over in the Woodlawn area, basically the same area where all the motels are. The difference back then were, the girls were more out and open, and not holed up in the motels. To find dates, they HAD to get out, and get out they did. You could find them everywhere, down side roads and anywhere you tried looking. I always had lots of luck down Georgia Road, but it's been dead for years as most girls, if they're out, have moved to the main 1st Avenue route. But back then, I found out just by knowing where to go, and once there, I found out other areas by dating the girls and hearing from them where they hang out.

I started mongering I guess in the late 80's. On a summer Friday night you could ride through there and it was than anyone can imagine. I have had 10 girls dash to my car at once begging to be the choice. I have seen as many as 20-25 girls working in that 2-3 block area. This is the thing also. Topnotch choices available. Young beautiful not drugged out put up wet hoes like most of this stuff today if you happen to luck upon one walking. Everyone has that one sexual memory that they think back on that was their best ever. Mine was there. A liteskin probably 19 year old goddess. There has never been a cowgirl in any rodeo that could ride like that. All I remember is that face and those features--halle berry would have been envious. Don't remember name but she said she was from out of town just there visiting and needed some help. 25 years later I still ride through there and think of her.

This is my comment about Bessemer in the 'Where to Find SW' thread.

The Budget Motel on the west side of Bessemer heading toward Birmingham is quite active there as well as the lots around the BP and Shell on 28th Street up the road. Also, side roads in Bessemer are always areas to look. If you're familiar with Bessemer, the areas around Snitz Snider Stadium at 4th Avenue and 9th Street, all the way back to Eastern Valley Road and all the areas in between are all places to look. Also look around Dartmouth Avenue on the eastern side of 150- there's some projects up the road that shows promise. You might want to watch out for Bessemer police, though, as they were out in force early morning the last time I passed through there. Heading back toward Birmingham on Bessemer Super Highway, there's two motels called the Hiway Host and the Ace Motel around the Lipscomb and Brighton areas to keep an eye on. Those two motels have been fairly active of late, though I'd watch the area as cops tend to hide where you can't see them until you're right upon them.

These are just overall places to look, and places where SW have been in the past. Problem is, Bessemer has been dead for a while. The only places I'd really recommend to look are the areas around Snitz Snider Stadium in old Bessemer, and the Ace Motel down in Brighton. But you can look any of the places I've mentioned, as since girls used to frequent those areas, you never know when one might pop up.

I have lived in or near Bessemer for over 45 yrs. I have picked them up everywhere you mention with the exception of the Budget Motel. I have pulled in numerous times and have never seen a single SW.

They do walk the gas stations and side streets that you mention but must be ghosts at that motel. It 100% looks the part but never had any luck there.

The Ace and around Snitz Stadium are the best bets.

The motel6, Knights inn and Quality across from Crackerbarrel are the newest hot spots. Security will try and hassel you at the Quality but no worries.

I have had luck down 4th ave, Bessemer Super Hwy and Hall Ave around the tracks.

RobAnders, for a while, I was having a lot of luck in the neighborhoods around 28th Street where the BP & Shell are, on both sides of the Super Highway. But in the last year or so, I've not seen anything at all when I ride through there. And over by Snitz Snider, it used to be that you'd see girls in all directions over there, but lately there's just one girl that I always see, and she's been out there forever. She stays on the street by the now closed pharmacy over the tracks.

I think the motels you mentioned are down around where Walmart is. I seldom venture down that far when mongering. I might have to look. Whenever I mention girls around motels, I'm never speaking of actually riding through them, just seeing them outside. If I don't see activity outside, I ride on. A lot of the motels around Birmingham have made it so you have to take the same route in and out, and cops are known to watch the entrances and if you go in and out too quick, they tend to stop those that do. It's not worth it to me to ride through them to take that chance. Many years ago, I was waiting on a SW friend I knew while she carried on her business at a motel in Bessemer, and I'd been waiting quite a while so I left to use the phone to see what was taking her. As I left where I had been waiting, a couple of Bessemer's unfinest followed me and harassed me when I got out to use the phone. They basically told me to head back to the interstate, get on it, and don't come back, and followed me until I did so. I had done nothing except wait for someone, of which they knew nothing of why. So because of that, I've always tried to keep away from going in motels and so forth unless I'm actually going in a room for a decent amount of time, no matter what area of town I'm in.

I rode around 1st Avenue yesterday morning for around an hour and saw a couple of SW, one white and one black, within a couple of blocks of the Bama Motel. The black one disappeared after about 15 minutes, but the white girl was walking up and down the block for a good hour. Didn't see anything else around the Woodlawn/East Lake area, and didn't venture anywhere else around town.

I honestly wish when people would talk about money in forums on here, such as when they mean fifty dollars, they'd post it as '$50'. Why post it as 0.50.$0 or whatever? One hundred dollars is '$100', it's not $.$.1.0. Someone recently posted they saw a girl somewhere and she was great and only cost $4, so to me that's four dollars. Damn that is a good deal. That even beat my all-time best of $5, LOL. Regardless, whatever the codes are supposed to be, not everyone knows that they mean, and those that want to try to fit in post money amounts the way they think it means, and end up being more confusing. They think posting a review will get them forum cred even if it does or says nothing to help anybody if others can't research who they're speaking of. Another thing that has always irritated me on here, is the people that want to say they dreamed this or that. Like saying you did the things discussed on here is going to make you at risk of being arrested. Even if they could prove who someone is on here, what you type out on here is no more admissible in court than a person's random opinion. It's hearsay. Even if I said yes, I have picked up many girls in my time, and have engaged in paying for prostitution. For most minor crimes, cops have to be witnesses to it for it to be something you could be charged with. Even if they caught you with a known prostitute in your car, unless you're both engaging in the act, they can't do anything about it because there's nothing illegal in having another person in the car with you. There's even some in other cities that are so scared of picking girls up, they claim they'll ask a girl for her ID to make sure she's of legal age. If they're so scared of being stopped in the first place, then mongering for SW isn't what they should be doing. Anything I ever describe on here, you can guarantee it 100% happened to me and it was me it happened to. And I was wide awake when it did. Arresting someone for prostitution is one of the most ridiculous crimes anyone could ever be charged with. Here's an article about somebody getting abducted in Avondale. Surprise, surprise. It's like putting a park in the middle of an alligator swamp and telling everyone it's safe, and the mindless ones who drink the Kool-Aid believing it. It's crazy how free the people walk around over there, like they have no idea a block down there's drugs and whatever else hell has been there. I passed through there the other day and saw they'd put one of those Zyp bike stations out in front of the Chevron there. I have no idea how those work, but it wouldn't surprise me for them to come by there one day to service them and find them all gone, and they'll look clueless like how could that happen. Exactly. I was reading all the comments related to that article, and no one says that type of truth, or if they did it would be deleted because we can't say those type things. One person said they go to Avondale and eat and so forth and have no fear because they expect the police presence to protect them. Since when does the 'police presence' stop crime from happening? Another said they've lived in the area for years and haven't had or seen anything bad happen. I was thinking well then you're just not looking hard enough, or haven't been outside at night. I've rode Avondale for years as well, and can name a violent crime or murder that has happened on every block surrounding those new shops. I also know for a fact that there's drug areas not even a block away, not to mention a huge housing project not a half mile away. Putting all those targets out there is only asking to be robbed, or for the clientele to be attacked, and it's only a matter of time that it's going to happen. Someone also said in comments that you can't live your life running from things that might happen. No, but you can sure prevent an accident by not stopping in the middle of oncoming traffic. It's like the younger generation chooses to be blind to what is, and thinks that if they display this kumbaya attitude that nothing will happen to them. Like I said before, over in Woodlawn, they plopped these garden homes down on the direct block behind where all the motels are.
