Iliketowatch: What took you so long to notice? Just kidding. The new generation of KB-girl is Westernized. It's all about them. If they had to do what the previous generation did, they wouldn't work in the bars. You can still get a glimpse of the past in Kalihi or PC, just bring a paper bag and some dark glasses so you don't see what you're feeling. Ever had a toothless bj (joke). All joking aside, that's why I just go for the pay for play and not try to pursue the sex after-hours. You'll go broke just trying to find out if you can score. Some of us didn't buy your "attack on the 1st drink" approach to weed out the non-players, not because it not a good frugal strategy, but because the girl's now days have gotten knee magnetic implants and it's hard to pull the magnets apart. You gotta romance now, feed them shit, hold them gentle, caress their hair, gaze into their eyes, THEN ATTACK! Remember, know your enemy, or your predated tactics will only get you sex with the kitchen mama atop the kim chee. Just having fun! Stay safe.

Thanks for the informative post. [IMHO, you deserve to be a Senior Member of this list!] I too have been annoyed by some bars that think that our money grows on trees. I occasionally go to one strip bar located off of King Street (Club Concierge). They have some attractive ladies working there at times. I have had instances where I have been there for less than an hour and the owner Sora is trying to get me to spend over $200 buying the ladies drinks. I am told that things are slow, but why should I have to singlehandedly make up for their lack of business? She wants me to buy each dancer a drink as well as herself. I know that the girls have bills to pay but so do I. Why should I buy a girl a $20 dollar drink if she is dancing on the stage and not at the very least sitting beside me? It is nuts. Yes, I can be a nice guy at times, but let's be reasonable. Why treat me like a sucker? I think that if they were less aggressive in trying to get customers to buy girls drinks (and this applies to all clubs), then they would attract more customers and make more money in the long run.

Incidentally, I too have been trying to find some places to meet and possibly pickup ladies who are not jaded professionals. I was at the Wave Waikiki a few months ago and noticed a couple of white chicks checking me out. Unfortunately, I didn't have the guts to go up to them and close the deal. Next time, I will go for it. I would love to meet some female Japanese tourists or locals. Thanks for sharing some of your favorite pickup spots.

Someone on this list once mentioned that many Korean providers attend the Full Gospel Church. It is interesting that you mentioned Africa and Noblis. Where are these places located?

As for mama getting you to buy drinks for the girls, it's kind of a power trip for them to show their workers they can get their customer to buy the girls drinks. It's the Korean female counterpart to the pissing contest.

I too, have noticed that clubs have been slow. When I first started bar hopping in 1990, the bars were packed every night and full of hot women every night. I think the slowdown started about 2002 when our economy turned and everyone started buying real estate. New homes took money out of the bars, but the old timers were still used to the previous eras spending habits and could not adjust to this change. 2001/2002 is also when the HPD/Immigration crackdown started at the bars. It took it's toll on Patty mama and she sold out to Miki back in 2004. She got tired of LC coming down hard on her as did INS. That's why she only allowed girls with green cards to work for her from @ 2002. There were some without green cards or visas, but their time at New Office was very short.

Homelife must have gotten boring, especially since she finished her house. So I guess it was time for her to star up once again. There are new girls at Camelot and more are expected before the grand opening.

To a certain extent the hostess bar business is seasonal, just like many other types of businesses. Business tends to pick up during football season as husbands have an excuse for frequenting these places. Having said that I prefer the "off-season" to go on the hunt since the hostesses have to work harder to make their money. As for mama's getting customers to buy girls drinks, you may notice that when a customer becomes enamoured by a particular girl and wants to impress her he tends to spend more. The girls take advantage of this tendency by asking their customer to buy other girls drinks. This helps spread the wealth around and guys invariably spend more than they would otherwise do so. Word to the wise, plan ahead, take only the amount in cash you want to spend each night, never use credit cards, resist the temptation to visit the ATM after you start drinking.

My observation is that the KB scene will never be like it was in the 80s and 90s. KBs are a throw-back to the original Japanese hostess bars that the second generation Japanese-Americans brought back from overseas. The tradition was passed on to the baby-boomers so business in the bars was still good through the 80s. Beginning from the late 90s the next generation is not finding that hostess bars are their thing--or at least not on a regular basis like their predecessors. So I predict that business in the KBs will keep getting slower with each new generation unless they think of something different rather than ripping off the young guys and trying to hustle us old farts who are better at playing the game. The smart ones like June at Cheers know how to treat customers--its service and quality food. Gotta spend money to make money. Some of the other bars just don't get it. Perhaps they should get into dancing, for example, as a new direction.

It has been observed many times in this thread that girls who work the bars do so as a last resort. The world economy is good. That means not only can they find other work but there are more sugar daddies around capable of supporting those who are willing to trade sex for security. The raw material for bars has always been immigrant women who end up in this country without other means of supporting themselves. We now have fewer military bases overseas. Those that still exist are in countries that are very prosperous as well. With the possible exception of China and Russia, women from other countries are not desperately trying to here in order to find a better life. Alas, the future of KB's is in doubt unless a new source of women can be found. I predict we may see some RB's (Russki Bars) in the not too distant future. It has already happened in Korea and Japan. But then that may not be a bad thing.

I did get PMed a lot for my 1st drink advise, but everyone was polite in understanding that it was just my opinion and not because I was preaching.
Use what I post under your own discretion. I just hate seeing guys getting abused at the bars. Local guys are almost too nice at times. I chat with a lot of mongers at the bars and enjoy almost everyone as a bar friend. It's great enertainment and a release for me from the daily work grind. Hate to not see you guys around because some b**** emptied out your wallet playing on your feelings. Although the hunting seems to be better at the local nightclubs, I still enjoy the KB's for fun. I just don't go in with the expectations I once had when the bars were wilder, so those of you who are struggling, or are getting pounded by these women, you have to realize it's very different nowadays. The battle has changed, we are no longer in ditches with swords, the girls have heat seeking missles now, and they know where your heat is coming from. Don't go grocery shopping when you are hungry and don't going KB shopping when you are horny. LOL

Ahhh, but now you see alot of older guys and retirees that have money go to the bars and buy some of the nicer girls drinks without even touching them. And they are like regular customers, going there at least a couple times a week. Although this is good for the bar, its kinda messed for us mongers. For those girls, they would probably sit with their old customer who doesnt even touch them, rather than sit with one of us at one of the back tables for the same amount of money. And if you do get to sit at the table with one of these girls as soon as they see one of their old, rich customers sit at the bar, they'll go and sit with him and sometimes just forget about you. Thats probably the one thing I hate the most, sitting alone at the table waiting for the girl to come back and she never does.

It's hard for Lex to understand why guys go to SC's, bars, etc. Lex finds AMP's to make more sense. In an AMP both the girls and the customers pretty much understand what is supposed to happen. You're both in a room, the girl and the time are yours according to how much you pay. She's not going across the room to massage some other dude. And you're in private, not in an open space, even if it's a VIP lounge or whatever.

Unless some guys somehow enjoy the competition. But if you do, then why complain about it. Lex figures that in the long run you spend a lot more in the places you go than Lex does. Granted, many AMP workers are less than model quality, but even some of the older ones can be quite accomodating.

You know, I am an AMP guy myself. But, every now and then, a bar is just more fun. There is nothing like cruising in a bar, checking out ALL the girls, and waiting for the perfect one.

In an AMP, you have to either partake of who mama chooses for you, or make a selection immediately. For whatever reasons, AMPs here do not like to have you pick from a selection, as in Rush Hour 2. If that were the case, the AMPs would be heaven defined! But in a K/VB, you get to see the pussy on display.

I'll tell you what's better than cruising in a bar; cruising the AMPS, checking out ALL the girls, and doing the perfect one. You know as well as I do that, most of the time, the mamas will bring in all the girls if you ask. It may not be Rush Hour 2/fishbowl style, but they will bring the girls in one at a time, and I love that shit. You can hit all of the AMPs and walk until you find the right ONE.

The K/VBs are just more inventory. Some of the inventory is flawed though(some girls have no intention of playing), and that is a big problem when you are trying to exchange $ for "companionship". If you don't close the deal with these girls, you are just another sucka supporting her lifestyle. I don't care how much you two "clicked". Most times in a bar (a bar with quality inventory anyway) you will not complete the deal on your first sitting even if you are the money man of the night. Sometimes you might need to go 3-4 times before you get any, and even then you are probably not sure if you will.

You can get a lot closer to a girl figuratively and literally by being intimate and talking than just buying her tea for chit chat with no intimacy. Don't get me wrong, I think KBs can be a good place for extra inventory, but it's the girls with no intention of playing that get my goat. If I wanted that type of challenge, it's better to just go to a sports bar don't you think?

Don't get me wrong. I prefer AMPs. You're right about the floor show Mama can provide. But not all Mamas will do that. Some will only run two or three by you and say "That's all." Plus, going from AMP to AMP can get time consuming. I've done that plenty too. I don't doubt that ultimately you have better selection that way. But, it's not as fun as having a sexy asian chick all dolled up sitting on your dick with the g-string aside in the middle of a crowded bar. The girls in K/VBs are much prettier too.

Still an AMP guy though. Better "bang" for the buck.

If I sit with one of them then I'll see how far I can get and how much she will do at the table. Sometimes you find a "friendly girl", sometimes you find a money hungry b*tch. I also enjoy going to the amps and getting all the standard services and even some GFE. In an amp you'll also get girls with great service and girls with crappy, rushed service. And reading the forums, I dont think anyone here has always had a memorable time in an amp, unless you always see your ATF. Theres alot of complaining about the bars, but there are also alot of complaining about the amps. And the quality or girls at the amps aren't as great as before either.

So for me, even if I dont get the "memorable service" all the time at either, I still enjoy going to both amps and bars.

Was drinking at Club Flamingo in Kalihi and it seems that a new mama is going to take over starting today. I overheard some guys saying that the old mama from Azalea is taking over. So I'm guessing that there will be a change in girls at this bar in the next week or so. Hopefully the new mama keeps some of the younger girls. The girls that used to work at Azalea, now Vegas II, all have alot of mileage even though some used to give good service.
