No amount of resetting the phone, software updates or security updates could fix it. It was a faulty chipset that came with the phone. Luckily, I didn't have any hobby information on it, and my regular information was minimal on it. So yeah, a separate burner through a prepaid cellphone provider is what I'm most comfortable with. And preferably pay for the SIM card and phone reload cards with cash.
