In order for you to be at high risk to contract HIV, a high concentration of the virus must enter your bloodstream very quickly, as it cannot survive in open air (or urine, or saliva, etc) for very long.

a) IV drug abuse for TWO reasons; the obvious one, that of using a dirty needle and injecting something directly into your bloodstream, and also that of the effect of the drug and probable accompanying unhealthy lifestyle that weakens the immune system. Non-IV drug abuse increases risk as well, with the possible factors including multiple partners, rough trade, weakened immunity, and willingness to do just about anything while high or needing to get high.
b) Receptive, promiscuous, unprotected anal sex. Receptive and unprotected because that's how the virus can enter your system, through inevitable tears in the tissue, and promiscuity increases the chances of meeting up with an infected partner.

1. I wish AIDs was the only STD one had to worry about. Many others, including Herpes (which is incurable) can be contracted from oral sex. Moreover, some STDs have symptoms that lap each other. A positive test for one STD usually provokes a doctor to do a battery of tests for other STDs.

2. If one drinks from a dirty pissy pool, you have sampled ALL the sludge in the pool...all at once, not just selective piss or one piss at a time. A dirty pool that has clap could also have pubic lice, herpes, gonorrhea and HIV. If they aren't getting treated for the clap, they sure as hell aren't getting checked for and treated for pubic lice or herpes. Especially if she is a needle user.

4. When I stated that one has a higher risk of getting multiple STDs, I wasn't saying that one STD makes you more susceptible. It means, you have encountered someone infected. There is a higher chance that they have multiple infections, and therefore, you too now have a higher chance of multiple infections. As Garthy can attest, the typical prognosis for treating one STD is to do a broad test for other STDs as well, which can share common symptoms, or have no symptoms at all!

Finally: With treatment, it takes two (2) weeks for NGU to clear out of the system through the antibiotics. In the meanwhile, the person remains a carrier of the STI. Apparently, some just don't give a fuck if they persist it. Real misogynistic shit.
