Any seniors here can DM me on tips for a first timer wanting to try to visit TJ. Literally I've browsed your guys' thread often and it seems pretty straight forward but 1) I don't speak spanish and 2) I'm a city slicker all my life. Must appreciated if you can detail your steps to me and once there who to ask for and what are my options. TIA.
I posted what I do when I go a couple years back. Once you get that under your belt then you can refine your routine such as taking the HK shuttle, finding a cab that will take $5, or venturing out from HK into Chicago, or Tropical, or the alley out the back door of HK where the street girls are.
It's worth it to get a global entry card, but it is not necessary for your first time at all. All the times I've gone there has not been a wait getting back into the US. I usually cross back over around 10 pm on weekend nights. There is a border wait website somewhere too.
HK girls seem to be $100 these days, then I think rooms are 30 for 30 min or 40 for 40 min. Tip the guy who gives the lady her coat a few dollar. Tip the guys who clean the room a few dollars. Tip maseros (waiters) a few dollar. Expect to buy the girl a drink or two. Yes, they cost more and are smaller than yours. Expect to spend more than other guys mention because the place is designed to fleece you of your money quick. You'll see how it all works after your first visit.
Don't get too drunk and say no to any drugs! They're a huge deal down there if you get caught.

Take a passport card, and as you enter the building, get in the "foreign" line on the right. Talk to the person at the desk and say you're only staying for the day. I only cross the border in evenings or late afternoons. So for myself it is not worth spending the money for a global entry or sentri card.

Thanks for everyone who posted hotel help in TJ. I have decided to spring up and go back to the Ticuan and the Executive rooms. I only travel twice a year and hell its not worth it to save a hundred over somewhere unknown with noise, and etc.
I always worry about Airbnbs. What if in the middle of the night I lose the keys or the key code does not work?
Or my cell phone suddenly can't work in Mexico.

Can I go to Mexico with Driver's License and Nexus Card as ID.
My Passport expired Jan 23 and I can't renew it in time for my next trip soon.

If you're on foot the Mexican officials will probably make you purchase a "temporary visa" for not having a valid passport but they will still let you in. From what I hear you can either pay a one time $20 fee or pay $30 for a 6 month pass.
