I could have bought a house along time ago as I'm one of those basement trolls but the truth is, even w / my low 6 figure job I still can't really afford to own a home as the economics of actually owning it (taxes and maintenance costs) are not viable or smart. A friend told me that their newly married friends who are in their mid 20's just bought a home in bumbleFuck Pennysylvania and it needs a new septic system - $50,000.

Both are entry level professionals who have a combined income of prob around a 120 k a year if that.

Our whole system is going to crash down sooner or later.
