Sam pulls out his phone and snaps a pic of the boyfriend who sees what Sam is doing and makes that stupid gang sign for the camera. Sam hustles off to his car, hand on his weapon. Behind him he hears the boyfriend tell another guy that Sam had taken his picture. The other guy calls out to Sam but Sam doesn't stop. He makes it to his car unmolested and promptly drives away.

Clearly there are many collaborators / friends involved in these ripoffs. As fate would have it, I had already vetted this lass and dismissed her as a kittenfish at best or a thief at worst.
