I booked a room there on the border with Germany. The guy in charge of the room said he lived in the USA and but came back after the fall of the Soviet Union. Yes it is cheaper, but nowhere near that cheap. A very low end studio apartment will cost you $200+ and a decent place $350+ a month across most of the kingdom. Add in everything else you need to live and have some basic fun and you are looking at $2 k+ monthly. Want to party nightly? Consider $5 k+ in a bar area. None the less I do recommend the country. Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines are also cheap if not cheaper and certainly fun but with that comes more rudimentary infrastructure and corruption across the board. I'm not sure that I could live in these last three for more than a few months.
