I've carried during pickup and such, but I never count on the powder actuated hole puncher for protection. I keep it as a preventative, having parties know I have access. And as a backup plan in the unlikely event there are several people that I can't handle hand to hand alone. If incall is a hotel I ensure the chain is locked so another key can't simply be used to gain entry. Residential incall, I guess not much can be done, but if you feel you need to carry all the way to that point, your spidey senses should be tingling anyway and should probably decline in the first place.
