Fingerprinting used for credit card disputes
One question for regulars. I used a CC and feel like I had to give my first born to get a cash advance. They photocopied my drivers license and card and made me sign that I knew what I was doing. Then fingerprint it! Is that standard to prevent guys telling CC companies they didn't authorize? Any concern of them taking all that info? It was gift card by the way, not a real CC.
Yep, its pretty standard at most clubs nowadays when you use a credit or debit card to pay for dances (not for drinks). The thinking is, a stolen wallet will have driver's license and credit card in it that could be used with a forged signature. But you can't fake a finger print! So if the customer disputes the charges when the wife sees the bill or the accountant realizes he was not taking clients to dinner, the club has the fingerprint to prove the customer was there.
The fact that they had you do it with a gift card with no name on it made no sense though.
