Why not Waianae or Waipahu
How come there are no places in Waianae? The town sure has the feel. Waipahu has one spa and its hit or miss. Don't go in expecting it. Go for the massage and if they bring it up, then ok.
The answer is very predictable. MONEY.
The tourists are in Waikiki. All of the major AMPs and most of the "Therapeutic Massage" joints are located within a few minutes of a steady flow of tourist and their MONEY. They all want access to the money stream that the tourists and visitors bring with them. Can you imagine trying to keep a place like Happiness alive in Waianae. The military provides just enough personnel traffic and cash flow in Wahiawa and Pearl City / Aiea to keep a couple of smaller operations running in those areas.
The AMPs and Massage Parlors need us (the locals) but we aren't enough to keep them going.
