So I just have to remember to ALWAYS GO TO THE APP to return calls.[/QUOTE]With Android at least, it's possible to have your phone prompt you how you would like to dial when calling back numbers in your call logs, whether you want to use Google Voice to dial (and your Google voice number would show up on the other person's phone) or use your phone's dialer (and your real number would show up on the other person's phone). It should do this by default after you install the Google Voice app. If you ever dial a number and choose one of those options and click "remember my preference" I never could figure out how to get it to prompt me again (and I'm an IT guy LOL). It's somewhere in the Dial settings. I always just reinstalled the Google Voice app and it would begin prompting me again. I'm not sure about iPhone's but the same should apply but don't quote me on that. Hope this helps.

I recommend that you install Google Hangouts for your Google Voice number. It does the messaging and receives. And sends. Pictures without a problem. Assuming, of course, you are using a smart phone.

Avoids the whole "cell provider" issue.

For me, pics sent to my Gv do not show up there but will show up in my gmail.

Oh dearest Miranda. Her number is being responded by someone else. So I saw her last before the holidays. She relocated to a trailer literally yards from an opening to Jennings State Forest so you could say the "sticks" quite literally. She did mention one of you smitten mongers was asking her to come up and spend some time in DC so I don't know if she was made an honest woman. If someone knows otherwise or have an alternate # let me know. I miss that little 5 foot 90 lb body. It was like my private little elf fantasy from Lord of the Rings.

If we were wanting to be go all 99.99999% secure, then we just get a monger phone we can toss and keep it in a Faraday bag until we want to use it. One and done. Like a one time encryption pad.

But monger phones sometimes have a way of showing up unexpectedly where they lead to questions and not the Fed kind. And of course, there is that whole latex glove approach to handling it and dropping it into acid afterwards that gets tricky.

All we are talking about is what ways to increase security and limiting inconvenience.

Certainly we know what Google does with the data, from ads to providing info the feds. But that's not who we are concerned so much about. SOs and crazy ladies are our largest concern and that's the level to which we secure.

And with Hangouts, use multiple accounts. Easy enough to use a phone you happen across as the "verification" phone to set up an account.

Heck, I have several encrypted text apps on my phone, such as Telegraph and Cyberdust. Even they have potential leaks. And getting a girl to use that.

Until ISIS is using it to track down mongers I'm not too concerned. Even then, ISIS is all about abusing women, so.

Paranoia is a useful tool. But like any tool, it shouldn't be the only tool in the box.

Heck, if we were that worried about things, then there would be no way we'd be posting on this forum. We all know that LEO scans it. And that there are ways to acquire information if you have the resources...not at the server necessarily, though that could potentially be compromised, but at many intermediary locations along the route.

As for stingray. Yeah. Old news. They have much better tools out there now. If you are worried about stingray and its ilk, then be sure to use AIMSICD (Android IMSI-Catcher Detector) which will alert you to most of such threats.

Don't assume that because we make a suggestion to make things better for someone that we don't know what we're talking about. A step up is a step up. Gaining a 9 is still gaining a 9. It is a always with security a matter of compromise against cost. That "Cost / Benefit" Analysis stuff.

Otherwise, the best communications security is going to be no phone, no email, no tech, period. An older car that blends in. Never travelling the same route. Hats. Nondescript clothing. The list goes on for that kind of tradecraft.

And even then, the people who get paid to surveil will still find a way to do their job. Cameras, tracking devices and more.
