It depends greatly on how and how much you are going to use the phone. For heavy users the answer would be different, but for me. A light burn phone user, being merely a few calls and texts w / no data, I like the Virgin Mobile phone. Buy the cheapest one off the rack at a dollar store for 10 bucks, then add minutes. I prefer not to have a monthly minimum so I use the plan that minutes last 90 days, calls are 20 cents min and texts are 15 cents each. I do not talk much on the phone and use less than 15-20 bucks per mo on avg.

I once sat on the phone so I went back and bought another 10 dollar phone at the Dollar Store and registered that instrument under my number and back in business quickly; all minutes transferred over. So I've had this phone for 5 months and spent less than 100 bucks, including the extra phone. Perfect for me, as a second <burn phone user, but this phone / plan wouldn't work for someone who is going to use it much more than I do. VM has other plans with monthly minimums and lower per minute fees but I am not familiar with them. The plans are outlined on their website, which is each to find.

Suggest you go to Wally World and discuss the phones, features and plans with their resident Geek, for those that need more minutes and data.

You can get a number and text on it, even call with the right headset. The cool thing is if you download certain apps they give you free minutes to use to call people, so just download the app for the minutes and delete it. Don't really have to purchase anything. It is a free app (at least it was when I the / l it) and if you don't use the number after so long, you get a new one, so it's like having a whole new burner!

But I was not price shopping it just seemed simple also you can find the refil cards all over town.

I agree the Trac Phone. I got the one with the lifetime double minutes. Also came with a coupon book inside.

But, that's why I use Google Voice *with* my burn phone, so I can mark the onerous ones as spam and never be bothered with them again.

I started reading the posts on this website a couple of months ago and until then never even considered a burn phone. I've been a part-timer in this hobby for a while, but learning a lot from you guys. Somebody should write a book to keep us all out of trouble.

I got a new burner recently because I need a full keyboard. Once you get a kno some girls or if you have a gf on the side who you're not paying (LOL) I tend to send more txt than calls, and it's cheaper on the minutes. Pay a little more up front but saving me time in the long run. Just my 2 cents.

Tips for your book: Always use a fake name (same every time) , Never tell them where you work / live, Get you cover story for why your trolling together before had (ie. Looking for an apartment, friends place but have a name and street name to tell them, ect.)

Lastly, burners are not totally anonymous if they really wanted to find you they could pull the security tape at Wal-mart or wherever you buy it and have at least a picture of you.

This bridge closure really is a big deal, we will see long delays and gridlock. Due to this many of us will be making our decisions on who to see by where they are located. It would be helpful if we could tell from your ad which side of the river you are on. A lot of ads will indicate both Indiana and Kentucky. I think it's important now to know exactly which, it might cut down on wasted calls and messages and ultimately your time too.

It used to be a trip across the river was just minutes and didn't matter at all. Now the game has changed.

BTW, I'm on the Indiana side and need to find a few more contacts on this side of the river. PM me with tips if you would like. I do prefer independent providers. I'm shy.

You can also use Google voice for free. Just register a new email address and then use it to get a google voice number, that is my main way of making contact to avoid giving my number to a provider. I can text or make calls with my Gvoice number at no cost.
