One idea I think will work. Get a prepaid phone with the same company as your usual cell. Take out the Sim card and toss the phone. When you want to use the prepaid, swap the sim with your usual cell.
It's a little bit of a pain, but a sim card is easy to hide.

I have a couple of suggestions I would like to share. First off if you really want an extra phone that you kind of stash in the car or wherever, you can always lock it with a code so nothing could be extracted from it. Maybe even tell your SO that your buddy left his phone behind, kind of time it when she knows you were with some of the boys.
