I have some porn DVDs I'm looking to get rid of, maybe sell on eBay, but I'm considering transferring to digital format, but I am not tech-savvy.

Anyone have experience here? Is this something difficult to do? Expensive?

Thanks for any input![/QUOTE]This is not hard to do. You need the right equipment to do it though. It's not much different than ripping a CD. It does require a program made for ripping video. Full length DVDs will take a long time to rip and encode into a single video format file. If you don't have a computer that has lots of random access memory and a fast and larger hard drive then it is not worth the effort.

I use a freely downloadable software app for PCs called Handbrake. It works very well, but the free version does limit the size of each clip to 10 minutes, which actually works really well so that the clips don't take too long to load over the Internet (eg to view on your phone). However, it can be tricky to come up with the right settings in terms of resolution and video format. Video players on PCs generally support a wide variety of codecs / formats and containers, eg MPEG, FLV, MP3, MOV. But phones might support a more limited set of codecs / containers. So, you have to decide carefully and then stick to those settings.

By the way, if I may take the opportunity to make a quick plug, I have a huge collection of porn DVDs collected over the years (a shoe box full of only my favorites, end to end, 150 or so, without cases, which I threw away to reduce the bulk), mostly top of the line, eg Evil Angel, Red Light District, etc. A good variety and some classics, many of which are probably no longer in print. I have digitized them so I don't need the actual DVDs any longer. I will not sell piecemeal, but will entertain serious offers for taking the entire shoe box off my hands.

The UN is for it, others have endorsed it, areas have tried it. It needs a push now to get the momentum moving. No offense but get the politicians looking for sympathetic votes, and certain religious sects out of it and the bills to legalize, etc might have a chance of moving forward. Our pal Deb might be better at getting involved with this one.
