If they can't host and start with the need for protection, then the rate usually drops. I try to negotiate with them as much as they are willing to negotiate. Some you just have to let walk and look for someone else. I have had some want 500-600 per, and if they arent willing to give up more than an hour of their time and have a list of what they don't do, then I decline and move to the next one. I don't mind paying for a several hour 2-3 minimum visit with plenty of open options.

Put your foot down, wait 2 hours and watch the rates fall 2-300.
