A hobby friend says he keeps "hobby clothes" in his car. So his business clothes will not wreak of stale hotel room, smoke or perfume.
What are some hobby precautions that you use?

That wouldn't stand out anywhere except where I live. Fortunately, I have a much newer "common" SUV I use when business travelling. So I guess I do have a "hobby" car because I'd be spotted in a 30 mile radius pretty easy. If you drive a white Camrey, your fine but be aware of how common, and how old, your car is. But speaking of phones, I have a cheapy burner phone. Works fine if I've done all of my research before leaving. Unfortunately, its useless if things change or I need to find something when I leave town. I have a laptop but it takes more time than I have to find a hotspot, booting up, and doing research in an inconspicuous place. Does anyone use a "smart" burner phone? How well does it work (surfing speed, etc.)?

Very valid statements. I do carry two phones, one my firm issued to me and another is my personal and the need to keep things separated is valid and smart. I also agree that dependant on the location I will not drive my 'professional car' (expensive show piece more or less) due to the example that you stated, If I am seeing a provider at a upper class hotel no issues but otherwise I drive the 'weekend runner' which is nothing special or sticks out and a few years old and I wear the average button up shirt and jeans. Your mates advice about the 'hobby clothes' is also valid and is something I do, I work in a 'white collar' world, so I do need to stay fresh and sharp. So replacement garments are needed, not a full set but I do keep fresh shirt, tie and jacket available due to my line of work and those accidental coffee spills. Smoke doesn't so much bother me, but the perfume and heavy makeup does. I make it a point to ask providers to either not use heavy perfumes or makeup.
