While my passport was being renewed, I went twice. Once they said they wouldn't let me in at all, but then said if I gave a tip I could come in because I looked "OK". $20 later and I was in Mexico. The next time they said I would have to buy a 180-day FMM for $30. On my most recent trip they accepted my passport card without issue.

Returning to the US without a passport, passport card, or trusted traveler program card means they have to verify your identity another way. If you have a Real I'd drivers license they may accept that, but they may send you to secondary screening and hold you until they can confirm you. It could take some time, so leave enough time to make your plane.

Heading down 6/1 for 5 days. I was going to try one of the premium rooms at Rizo but they are all booked so splitting my time between Cascadas and Tiquan. Looking forward to some quality monger time.

You can cross back into the US without a passport. But CBP will warn you. The problem is crossing in Mexico. Unless you have a FMM / Visa Mexican immigration officers will not let cross into Mexico.

It all depends on the agent at the time. I've crossed over with a passport book and no FMM. Sometimes they make you fill out an FMM on the spot and sometimes they just wave you through. This last time I went I had my FMM pre-printed and ready. They were just waving people through but when they saw I had an FMM printed they stopped me, then stamped my passport and the FMM and allowed me through. A few months ago I crossed with my passport card and no FMM and they let me right in. And when my passport was being renewed I crossed with just my drivers license. A $20 tip to the agent got me across without any papers at all.

Anyone ever use a credit card to pay for a room. Their website says cash, Visa and MasterCard accepted. Just curious if anyone has had any mysterious charges after the fact.

No bad experiences personally though. I always like to leave a little cash in my car in San ysidro in case I get shaken down by the cops or worse, robbed while I'm walking around. Neither has ever happened though. Moe.

Yes I too have used my credit card at Cascadas once and for those of you with wives / snoopy girlfriends just know it actually posts as "HOTEL CASCADAS. TIJUANA BCN MX" on your statement. The only other fee I received was a "FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEE - $3. 34" but that was because my room was $160 plus the conversion rate or whatever. In all, it's better to pay cash because the $160 room it ended up costing me around $170 and it's on my statement. Personally, I don't care but just FYI to those of you who might.

Decided to head back to TJ for the first time in over a year. I thought by going on a weekday (Monday) I could avoid the long line back to the States. Spent over an hour-and-half in line and I got in line at about 9 pm. I will say getting into Mexico was a breeze.

Really didn't expect much at HK, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. There were plenty of cute girls to choose from, which is a pleasant change from slim pickings on HX (the good providers often book-up fast or you're stuck having to wait for the guy to finish in front of you) and the inflated prices on Private Delights. I still don't understand why girls on PD charge significantly more. I guess the girls are smarter than they look as they know demand is high and supply is low.

Was told by a cabbie that pedestrian traffic has been getting worse over the past week or so. I guess more people are crossing more these days. So even if you plan on getting line after 10 pm on any given night, don't be sure surprised if you have to wait a couple of hours. I don't plan to go back down until PedWest is open, which the same cabbie said would be open later this week. I believe this coming Saturday.

Hope this helps anyone wondering what to expect should you decide to cross.

I won't forget the miserable long lines before pedwest opened in 2016. Pedwest was a real blessing. Too bad it's closed. Buddy of mine tells me the migrants are camped out in front of pedwest so I guess they'll have to be moved before facility opens. Moe.

Originally, I thought it was flea market but the cabbie just laughed. He told me they have been there for months and no clue on when they will leave, as they are waiting clearance to the States. I might get my Sentri pass. Just need to go to LA for it. Might be worth it if I plan to go down regularly. Oddly enough I met a girl (hot as hell) down there last night and got her number. Said she come to Rosarito Beach and hang with me, so that might push me to getting Sentri.

CBP originally said that Pedwest was closed due to a lack of pedestrian traffic. My guess is that Pedwest will remain closed until the travel restrictions end.

Anyone been to HK Weekday afternoons? Thinking of doing a quick walk across tomorrow around noon. Just curious what selection there might be.

I know this is the TJ thread but I have seen the intl version of this site for other parts of Mexico but it's pretty dead. Anyone know of a site with info on Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Tulum areas?
