This place has been around for awhile and has a good reputation. Do you know what they're rates are like during the week and if it's as busy? I know you need a reservation on weekends because they sell out.
Most recent Villa de Zaragoza rates that I've seen:

Note there is no difference between weekday and weekend (except holidays). Weekends are the only time the prices are reasonable.
First time crossing? I'm going 21,22,23 if any first timers want to cross and share a cab.
Hey!
Are you going today? I'm planning on going today.

What's the hassle these days with going into mexico? Is it still supposed to be essential travel only (dentist or something)? And are the border guards still charging 30 bucks for the temporary visa type thing? Been consumed by work and I feel like I need a mini vacation, just got vaccinated too.

I suggest you download a copy of the free 7-day FMM and have it with you when you arrive so they have less of an excuse to shake you down.

I was down last Saturday and they were still requiring people to get quasi FMM / Visa for $30. My guess is that this will continue until the travel restrictions ends.

Good advise

There is no such thing as "NORMAL" one day you go and you walk right in no questions asked and the next day they are trying to make you buy a 180 day FMM when you are just going for the day.
Like you said be prepared and get your FMM online BUT only get if from the official Mexican Gov website. I have seen people say that they paid $99 online to get their FMM that only cost $30 if you do it right.
The other thing is get the FREE one no need to buy the $30 180 day FMM if you are not going long term.
Yes, there are tons of scummy "visa" web sites that charge $99 for filling out a simple online form and emailing you the PDF. Don't fall for it. If you Google "Mexican visa" you'll certainly get a list of crap travel agencies trying to scam you.

HK Thursday
With the nice hot weather, decided to take the day off and head over to HK for some fun. No problems walking across at 2 pm and took a quick cab ride. Once inside the ratio was easily 2 girls:1 guy. For being the day shift they still had done 8's walking around. Getting a table to enjoy my drink and soak in the sights was easy. Maseros were hungry as usual, so they were a pain the ass at times. After a few beers this beautiful woman caught my eye. Called herself Regina and she has gorgeous curves and a sweet demeanor. Went upstairs for a very GFE session. Lots of DFK, fantastic CBJ then moved to CG and finished in mish. Built up an appetite afterwards so had lunch at Azuls. Afterwards went back inside HK to chill again. Found Regina again and we just clicked like two former lovers. Bought her a drink to enjoy her company and body, then headed upstairs for another round. This time more DFK and eye rolling CBJ. Went over on time as we got the dreaded door knock twice. Got her digits for a future visit. Back in SD by 7 pm with only a 5 min wait time to cross. What a bonus!!

TJ Security / Safety
Looking to make my pilgrimage to TJ in July. Will be visiting HK. For personal safety I'm thinking about carrying a pocket knife. Is this a good idea? Will I be able to cross the border with pocket knife on person (potentially in backpack).
How is security at HK? Is there a pat down of some sort? I would probably keep it on me at all times if I'm able to.

I don't know the legality of pocket knives in Mexico, but if the TJ cops find one on you they will literally make it a Federal case.
Much better ways to stay safe in TJ. Lots of tips in this thread.

So if they search your backpack and find it they most likely not let you in.

I see you only have a few posts so your either new to this board or shy. Bringing guns, knives, weapons, ammunition or illegal drugs into Mexico is not smart. Your asking for trouble bro! They love to stop and search individuals walking around with backpacks. Also, an employee at the Adelita Bar had her throat cut by a guy a few months back with a pocket knife so how tight do you think security is at these places right now? If your looking for personal safety leave the bullshit at home and don't give anybody a reason to fuck with you. Moe.
