I've been around the scene 20 years and there's never been a single instance where somebody becomes a sting informant. If they want to do a sting they use an actual cop plant. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for them to string a random walker out. The only time they put time and money into something like that is when children are involved. People just like to say it to say it because they saw it on law and order once.

Giving up information happens which is a risk. If people pnp that could be a risk. It adds a layer of potential drama people might prefer to avoid.
