I am pretty skeptical too but I think the scope of LE involvement in this case points to something a lot bigger than one guy running an illegal escort service. It's one of those roles that government agencies are responsible for that you would never think of. Just like a Secret Service is responsible for protecting the President but they also deal with credit card fraud and counterfeiting of money so HLS involvement is not surprising.

With the app you have the option to use voice to dial or not to dial. If you text from the app you can get with your regular text messages, thru the app and get an email notification. Burner phones don't make you untraceable, every time your phone is tirned on. And sometimes when your phone is off. Your phone is telling nearby cell towers where you are so if cops have your number they can find out where you've been and when and possibly use that to help identify you. Especially if you haver a regular routine of driving a loop of streets every Wednesday at 3 AM. Not to many cars doing likely to have the same routing so you'd be pretty easy to spot.
