I applied for my Senti back in Oct 2019. At that time they quoted me 52 weeks. As it turned out I was approved in November 2020, which was longer than 52 weeks. However taking into account all the shutdowns from covid, I was thankful to get it that quickly. You will still have to go the interview then wait for your card, but it will all be worth the wait in the end. Crossing the border with Sentri is a breeze, even compared to the Ready lanes when you drive across.
At this point, no American should ever apply for SENTRI. The process takes forever, they have far fewer locations where you can go for your interview, and getting an interview is much harder. Global Entry has all of the benefits of SENTRI, plus it works for travel to any country (SENTRI is only for Mexico; NEXUS is only for Canada). The Global Entry application process only takes a few weeks, and you can get your interview easily at hundreds of different locations. SENTRI is only worthwhile for non-US citizens from certain other countries.
