In fact, it is very difficult to find such a number. The closest indication on the CDC site is "sub-groups below 1% not included". After doing more research it comes down to this. So-called "ghetto" HIV apparently is a bit more common in areas with low hygiene, malnutrition, and other diseases (for example malaria ridden areas of Africa have a higher percentage of HIV cases). A normal guy in the USA has higher odds getting hit by lightning than getting HIV (which may or may not develop into full-blown aides). HIV was all hype in the 80's and 90's, in that, the expected explosion of cases never happened, but too much money was thrown at it for political reasons while the top killers like heart disease, cancer, alzheimers, etc took a temporary back seat. I'm not even that irked to be honest and I'll be the scapegoat here if it makes some guys feel better here but the truth of the matter is that I'm just one of dozens who are going to bring it up to her.
