Government never gets smaller, it only gets bigger. So, some cities enact shitier laws that make it easy to arrest / convict people who are doing nothing. On COPS I have seen guys get tickets (never arrested) for what they call "Manifestation of Prostitution". It means "We didn't actually catch you doing anything, but it looks like you might be heading in that direction so we're going to get you for something." A ticket is usually handled better than an arrest. The guy pays the ticket and feels like he got off light. No arrest, no car impound, no angry wife, no night in jail. But, the law is bullshit, since you cannot prove intent and it is actually unconstitutional to make a law about intent, but no one fights the law. It's like calling the police when you're threatened and they tell you they can't do anything about it because the guy didn't actually do anything yet, but if you are murdered, then call back and they'll arrest the guy.

Unless the cop is a complete douchebag, you're not going to get arrested for giving a hooker a ride somewhere if it's someone you know. If you pull a U-turn and cut off a cement truck and hold up traffic on a main street while trying to pick up a girl who's walking, you're the douchebag and you deserve what you get.

In CA they have a law called "loitering with intent to solicit prostitution" 653.22 pc. LE especially vice cops use the law fairly often especially when they are conducting sting operations. The law is a catch all law. Not sure about the constitutionality of the law however. I do not believe there has been a good test case on a federal level. Texas, Detroit and CA have such laws. It is important to be aware if a state has this law.

Thats a relief to know that. I still do not know know if prosecutors rely on a provider's ads for proof, or just on the exchange of money, during the provider's visit in front of the judge. Some gals have quite blatant ads, and others have ads that are quite vague..

If you are stopped it's best to remain silent and do not tell the cop where you are taking the SW. Just remember that the officer is questioning you to gather evidence to make a arrest. Do not let him lull you into thinking you are being a good citizen by answering his questions.

My guess is that the ads cannot in of themselves be used as evidence for a conviction. But if there was jury trial, the ads can be brought to help as supporting evidence. They can argue that prostitutes typically have ads on BP to get customers.

Years ago, Los Angeles had a mapping program. If a girl was arrested for prostitution, she was given a map by the court of common hooker strolls and told she could not be seen walking in these areas. They stopped it because it actually increased john traffic once the guys got ahold of the maps. Plus, I think some lawyer finally sued over it as lawyers will do.

Again, laws are only as strong as enforcement and the public's willingness to put up with bullshit. Seatbelt and helmet laws are unconstitutional, but it's cheaper to pay a ticket than be the guy who fights the law. Any law with intent as the foundation is unconstitutional, because you cannot prove intent. But, when it comes to hookers and drugs and stuff that the general public frowns on, no politician is going to risk votes protecting people who don't vote like hookers and drug dealers. You are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and there are plenty of cases where criminals were given back stolen goods because the prosecution was handled wrong and therefore they were innocent of stealing. The legal system is far from perfect, and the government knows that people will not stand up for the greater good if it is an inconvenience to them as individuals. That's why our rights are being slowly eroded. We must stand up for what's right and stop what's wrong, whether it applies to us or not, because one day it WILL apply to each one of us.

So, with all the legal talk, I wonder if anyone can tell me about the cameras on top of the traffic lights up and down Fremont Street. Do the cops monitor these, and are any arrests ever made? When downtown L.A. Installed theirs, they used them to make tons of arrests, but it was mostly drugs and violence.

San Diego & National City installed some video cameras to deter prostitution. I do not believe the cops actively monitor the cameras. The few girls that are around in NC simply ignore them. They have pan and scan cameras on El Cajon blvd in SD. But I have never seen the cameras move. It's more difficult to enforce prostitution with video cameras. By the time the girl gets in some guys car he is long gone. When the cameras were first installed the cops cracked down for a few weeks.

I am amused when I hear people talk about a track. It's almost as if they believe there is only a certain area where a girl can work. There is endless locations are SW can work in LA / OC. If the girls moved around more it would be much harder for the cops to bust them. The SW's in SD were working a small 8 or 10 block area and this made it easy for the cops to bust them. Back in the 80's and 90's the girls were smarter and moved around more. So as a result there is far fewer SW's in Socal these days.

Thet cams that are pointed at intersections is usually for traffic incidents and main focus is the street, the domed cameras usually can be moved remotely zoom in / out etc but again that's even if there is a camera inside.

Audio, still pics, text easy cheap to store they do not have resources to stores all that video for a whole city or casino you are talking hundreds if not thousands of terabytes a day its just not possible in casinos the main focus is on the exits / entrances & tables for employees so no one steals but a lot of the others are fake.

I believe the cameras that are mounted on the signals are merely to observe traffic conditions. The cameras have a narrow field of vision since they point straight ahead.

They girls walk where the guys cruise, and the guys cruise where they expect to find girls. A girl can work or walk anywhere, but they increase their chances of getting picked up if they walk the strolls that are known for prostitution. When you go to the mall, you don't wander around Macy's looking for a corndog or a giant cookie, you go to the food court.
