Your version is pretty accurate, but I wanted to clarify a couple of points. First, she cancelled the date based on the directness of my questions (I asked for a list of restrictions). In spite of her cancelling, she insisted on a cancellation fee, was not happy with the 4 for cab fare and called her "friend" on me. She refused to vacate my apartment so to facilitate her "friend's" entrance once he arrived. She also put her "friend" on speakerphone so that I could hear his threats about hurting me once he arrived.

Second, we can talk about the wisdom of opening the door to her "friend", but in my defence, I am Canadian, and I have never in my life feared for my personal safety. It's just not an issue in Canada (at least not for a person my size). I now realize that things are done differently in Chicago, but given my previous experience with the lack of violence, I assumed that this case would be similar and that we would come to a peaceful resolution.

Third, about the hammer. The "friend" hit me 5 times. The first four blows did not phase me. The fifth blow, which came after a pause, caused damage and stunned me. After I recovered, I looked at the guy and he was holding a hammer, a small one. I do not know if he actually used this hammer on me for the fifth blow, but it is possible that he caused the extra damage with the hammer. That's when I started yelling and making the commotion that got the pair to flee.

As for whether my original review is exaggerated, I did my best to keep the story as neutral as possible and without opinion (hence my admission of several questionable move). No, the date was a nightmare which nearly ended up as a disaster.
