Psychologically this is called rationalization. If someone is rationalizing their behavior they may want to reevaluate the choices they are making.
I have no reason to care about people who have no bearing on my life. I have no wife or gf. I have no guilt. I take drugs, at times, with individuals who also choose to take drugs.

Hypocrites use words like "fine line" and other qualifiers that serve their purpose and attempt to alleviate their guilt.

Don't fool yourself,"going home" is usually a rotation of girls. She might be going home, she might just be going to another city.
