They did take away my 6-month visa last time a couple of weeks ago, after I used it to enter TJ for more than a year. So had to get in line to get a day pass. It is free and no questions asked. They do check temperature each time though. So don't go if you have a high temperature.

The 6-month visa is about $30. Then you can go through the Mexican lane without stopping for 6 month. I heard that you will also need it if you plan to go to other Mexico citys from TJ. That is what I plan to get next time so I don't need to wait in the foreigner's lane for another 6 months (or longer if they don't take it away after 6 months hahaha).

Each time I parked at the trolley spot on Beyer, trolley to San Ysidro, walk through the left side using the visa and boom I'm in TJ. Sunday afternoon is the busiest time to cross back.
