When I go to meet a new provider, I text before I get to the hotel and get the room number. I then park away from the room. I take nothing in the room with me other than the agreed amount. I leave my wallet, glasses, phone, keys and everything else I might have on me in my vehicle.

As soon as a discrepancy in the plan (a dude leaving the room while you're walking up, a change of room number last minute, really anything that wasn't agreed upon), leave because you know once you're inside at best you're going to get robbed and there's nothing you will do about it (no matter how bad ass you think you are). Also, they are not and never will be your friends, they treat their customers as walking wallet POS and their goal is to take the max while providing the absolute min. Or any other legitimate excuse you can come up with, but just do it. While you are waiting to do that, turn on "Do Not Disturb" and then make all of your contacts into your favorites. Those calls and texts will still go through while the others will be silenced (hence your wife won't hear the phone ring for calls or ding / vibrate for messages).
