Seems to me like not having a cover charge at all would be the best way for clubs to get more customers in the door. If I took a cab there and they tried to charge me a crazy huge cover, I'd just refuse and leave. If I drove there on my own and I felt the cover was not reasonable, I'd simply go somewhere else. They wouldn't have to pay for kickbacks or limos if they just waived the cover. I'm sure they make their real money on drinks.
Literally every strip club that tried to play the no-kickback game is closed (for a long time, OG was the last lone holdout). The reality is that Vegas is a tourist city and most tourists aren't like people on this board who do research and who care about mileage and value. Tourists just call a cab and and go to a strip club. That's why kickbacks started, b / c so many tourists don't even say which strip club they want to go to. And even when the tourists did specify one, cabbies would be incentivized to just talk shit about that strip club and convince the passenger to change his mind.
Of course strip clubs make almost all their money on drinks. But they need people in the door before they can sell those drinks.
Needless to say, that the Vegas strip club scene is so tourist-dominated is also why it sucks.
