Hell just cross the border from San Ysidro. Five bucks to Hong Kong, five bucks back to the US border. I usually go during the day, but it's for an hour or two if cheap beer and cheap pussy ($20-$100 range). It's pretty fun and never ran into any issues, I am planning on going there soon.

Coming back you'd end up back to the same area. How has the logistics changed with the new border crossing?

If you use the El Chaperal (West) crossings you would park in the lots on the West side of the freeway. Haven't used it yet, but, the new crossing into Mexico should give you and easy 10 minute walk to the Zona. When you return, the exit from the US facilities is about a block away from where you would park. Last time I was there (May, I think) there didn't appear to be any street parking in that area.

Of course there's no reason not to continue to use the San Ysidro crossing both ways just as you formerly did. Just makes a little more sense to cab it to and from the Zona using those facilities.

Obviously it now makes no sense to enter Mexico on the Eastern side and exit on the Western side.

I'm looking forward to my upcoming "beta" run of the new entry to Mexico.

I went with him once and you can get 2 hour parking for $5 or 24 for $10. Then you cross the border, make sure you do not take the cabs that are immediately right there at the border since they will charge $20. We got to the crossed the traffic going to the USA and went to the streets and got a taxi for about $7-8 bucks.

Unfortunately, after our sexcapade, we only had $5 dollar left so we went through the San Ysidro crossing which took a while, got an Uber and got back to our car. If we only had $3 more we could have avoided way more time. I haven't been through the Otay crossing back to the USA but it's not entirely known so I believe that it would be a faster way back. Please be advised that it closes at 10 pm, I think.

If you're in the mood for a nice drive and maybe a weekend getaway it's something to consider.

A bit disappointing, but, with the easier PedWest return to US, probably offers a slightly better option.

It's been a while since I've been there but as I remember you'd enter off the last San Clemente exit going south, I think you need to pay to drive in, then park at the second to the last parking area and follow the trail. Once at the shoreline go south.
