(Here's an interesting news report on a relatively new method of preventing HIV infection in Hawaii.)
In an effort to reduce new cases of HIV infection in Hawaii, the State Department of Health is encouraging people at high risk for the virus to use pre-exposure medication to help prevent infection.
Marketed under the trade name Truvada, the prescription HIV medication was found in clinical studies to be 92 percent effective in preventing HIV infection, compared with no treatment at all, according to the Department of Health.
The drug was approved for use in HIV prevention by the Food and Drug Administration in July 2012.
In a news release issued on Friday, Peter Whiticar, chief of the department's STD/AIDS Prevention Branch, called the drug "high-impact HIV prevention".
"Never before has there been a medication that can help prevent HIV infection," Whiticar said. "It's important to not only care for our ohana who are living with HIV, but also to help prevent transmission to others".
According to the department, 456 new HIV cases were diagnosed in Hawaii between 2008 and 2012. An estimated 2,200 people in Hawaii live with HIV.
The department emphasized that Truvada should only be used in consultation with a medical care provider. The drug is most effective when used with condoms. Effectiveness declines substantially when the medication is not taken daily.
According to the department, most health insurance companies in Hawaii cover Truvada.
This is off topic but. I had to see an older client. She had nice skinny model legs and huge natural boobs. I was thinking, damn, she must have been something when she was younger. I get her what she needs and then off topic she tells me she is HIV positive and that she got it from being raped 30 years ago. But before that I was thinking she would be a great MILF fuck, damn! Reading how dudes BBFS no problem, I guess they think it won't happen or they must not have a significant other at home cause marriage would be on the rocks infecting your wife with something nasty and having to explain yourself. I'm sure it has happened somewhere before where a provider was spreading it around town, just never heard of it happening in HOnolulu.
I totally agree, LS. I've had my head buried in the sand regarding this situation for far too long. So, from now, I plan to get tested on a regular basis. I've got a good insurance plan and just realized I can use it to do this right. Don't need to go over to DHC. I live country and DHC is too far and plus I just found out I can get tested at a local clinic in my area. Having the whole workup with urine sample plus five blood samples.
Just curious, which clinic did you go to? I live far from DHC and it would be great to go to a clinic closer.
I was just reading the fight thread and there was a discussion going on regarding unsafe sex practices and their impact on other mongers. I'd like to continue that discussion here where it belongs because I had some questions for other mongers.
First question: If you are a safe sex monger and you always wear a condom. Only engage in CBJ. Never Daty. Never DFK. Why do you even care what other mongers do? Aren't you therefore protected by your own safe sex practices?
Second question: If you are someone who is a safe sex fanatic. Are you turned on by providers like Rara at Emerald? She seems to fit the bill for a perfect provider of safe sex, but she is not seeing any great love from message board posters. It seems like the overwhelming majority (my guess is over 75% based on a thumb in the air guess) on this message board want at least one of the following services: BBBJ, DFK, DATY, BBFS.
I travel to the mainland quite a bit. Seems like there are lots of places where BBBJ and DFK is common place. DATY as well. CFS is pretty much standard everywhere with BBFS being very rare. Hawaii is a market that is unusual in the amount of BBFS offered. It's pretty taboo in most places.
It seems to me that with the prevalance of services offered that BBBJ in particular is not causing mass problems in the mongering market.

There is always risk; this hobby is not for guys who get pissed at what goes on when they're not there, what their girl does with other guys who did other things with other girls, or are otherwise unable to deal with the realities of the the world of prostitution.

Nirvana Julie was the only one I knew who refused all fluid exchange.

They may say they don't do certain things at the moment, but can't guarantee to stand by what they say when the time comes. Mongers do the same thing. Some guy may say he doesn't do DATY but, the girl was too fine where he couldn't help himself.

The "germs" she worries about will only enter her body through a different route, though she insists on being "safe".
What folk are missing here is not all germs are equal for everybody. TBH lot of us don't really care short of the deadly ones and even then like I said on that other thread, transmission rates are low for them. Also let's not pretend this is a provider or sex industry problem only, in all cases but two I know for sure I have caught my STI's from non-providers. To H Mobius point it's a fair rationalization if if you are a provider to equate certain germs with death (no anal or vaginal bareback) while same time sucking gallons of semen a day (as those other germs are simply lost income if you don't do), once you do that you can claim you are "safe" just fine because safe means death or no death, not STI or not STI. As a monger it's also a fair rationalization that "safe" sex equates only shit you can reasonably catch death from (anal receiving and if you are really risk adverse, vaginal / anal insertion) hence you are practicing "safe" as long as you CFS even though you DFK, DATY / O, receive BBBJ, etc.
I find it amusing (having mongered around the world now) how insane Americans are about STI's, especially the non deadly type. Wrap your shit for anal / vaginal, get routinely tested every three months for the non-deadly shit even if no symptoms (it's affordable or if not for you, go stand in line at Diamond Head Clinic), and treat as necessary or when possible (I. E. Sure you can't treat HPV nor HSV-1/2 but face it, we all already got that in this business and hell probably from non-providers even). I find a lot of American mongers simply aren't open with their primary care physician about their lifestyle which is stupid, let them know you a monger and need routine checking, they don't really care TBH, it's all chargeable services to them (same with getting Viagra, never had a problem getting by simply being up front about it). Now I will warn you in Hawaii your PCP is required by law to notify your spouse if you are hot for ANY STI so highly recommend you find a "second" PCP that you use for your mongering only (nothing against the law having two PCP's and insurance is fine with that also; got three myself as I compartmentalize stuff) and with your monger PCP just lie (also not illegal) and say you are single, no kids, no spouse, etc which works fine as long as you are getting insurance not via your spouses plan and let's be honest here, most men aren't as we are usually the primary earner. If on spouse insurance, well hell the free clinic and Life Foundation are your new best friend.
Or simply get used to enjoying covered everything dental dams and all at which point I might as well stay home and get a pocket pussy.
I'm not knocking on folk here, do what you want but blows my mind how American mongers equivocate catching a cold with rabies; they simply aren't in the same ballpark regardless if you can catch both via getting bit (or sex in our STI case).
As for you Goser on your first question it's called petty jealousy and envy / bitterness. Some mongers simply get upset that they are too scared to DFK that girl they just paid $$$ because they worried another monger just busted a nut in that ten minutes ago and put that feeling of inadequacy on the other mongers as opposed to themselves. Now I'm not one to say I like sloppy seconds because I don't (and it's why you will rarely see me monger at night or weekends in the AMP's unless I'm hammered) but same time for all you know your girlfriend or wife was just sucking some dude also right before you walked in (and yes that happens, I've been the other man and intentionally busted a nut right before chick went home to her man for some "loving" If that shit bothers you then you need to treat the sex industry like the WWF and if you can't suspend your disbelief it ain't for you.
Great points; I am nominating your essay for an USASG Award.

Yikes! Rethinking bbjtc.

First of all, the article only showed one example of of transmission by oral sex. The rest of the cases were due to some other method of transmssion.
We have cases of flesh eating bacteria here in Hawaii. You are more likely to get it swimming in the ala wai canal than the type from oral sex.
