Yes they can trace an IP but does that definitively identify an individual? Last time I checked the constitution had only been suspended in cases of National security and terrorism. If that trickles down to our level the American Public is SO fucked we might as well just all hang it up.

That is why you should keep all of your communications very benign. I never use explicit language. I also don't contact anyone that uses explicit language in their ads. I have not been burned by a girl yet, and have met a lot of cute coeds in the process. I still communicate with a number of them, which is good because CL has deteriorated and is too popular with LEO.

A prepaid phone that you only use cash for is essential. Not so much for LEO but for SO's.
i'm thinking more along the lines of economics and motivation. why wouuld the government spend thousands to do a forensic work up on my hard drive to bust me for minor low profit / fine charge like intent to solicit? unless the provider is **** and they can brand me as a pedofile.
do you think that your ip isn't logged at usasexguide.info? or that jackson has a mission impossible style hard drive burn in place in case he ever gets a subpena or that the spooks monitoring ip traffic to offshore internet sites aren't aware that someone using your machine is a member on this site?
it's much easier for hissonor to pick up street mongers and post their pictures on the cities website than to come after one of us via a dubious and time consuming trail of ips and e-mail messages.
final thought.. if it was easy for the government to catch crooks via their web activities don't you think the news would be full of busts of internet pedofiles, stalkers, drug rings and more high profile tom foolery like the ny governor thing.

Well, I guess I have been lucky as well. I use the same cell phone for everyting as well as the same computer. AS far as IP addresses, Im no computer expert, and if there is one out there, they are welcome to chime in, BUT as I understand IP addresses, most of us do not have static IP addresses if we are using a home computer.

Notice the part that says it is not always a unique identifier. For instance, I have a [b]dynamic[/b] address at my house as opposed to a [b]static[/b] address. Which means my address changes every time i turn my router on and off or every time I turn my computer on and off. If it was static it would remain the same.
For example, if I go to [url]http://www.ip-adress.com/[/url] and look for my address, it tell it to me and shows a location that is miles from my house. If I turn the router on and off it will show me a different address.
Now I woulds assume LEO could get this information with a court order. Would they come after me for engaging in conversations with known providors? Possibly, but they would have to show just cause to a judge and have pretty solid evidence. Would they use it, if I was soliciting, or pimping, or engaging in child porn? Well, thats different. The Patriot Act gave the Feds all kinds of powers. There a million things to hide behind.
As far as your hard drive. Learn its clean up programs. Dont store information that is dangerous. Do secure digital trash cleansing. Empty your cache daily and get rid of cookies. Clean the history. Learn how to use your tools.
Agree with the discussion, a monger phone is absolutely the way to go these days. Anyone have an opinion as to the best service/provider? I'm partial to Virgin but have heard good things from other companies. Obviously, you're looking for something on a cash basis.
