About a month ago I was travelling south on US 3 and passed by the infamous Firebird Hotel. Then it JUST dawned on me. That used to be the old Pine Valley Hotel!! In the 80's I was a student at New Hampshire College (now SNHU) and they used that property for housing mostly freshmen female students. One summer I worked on the maintenance crew for the school and learned that the property functioned as a hotel while school wasn't in session. Therefore, I was led to believe that the school owned the property, since we picked up the garbage working for the maintenance crew and some of the school staff worked there. I also had a friend I went to school with that did her internship there as well that summer. I haven't frequently travelled that section of US 3 in a long time (almost twenty years), so it has been built up a bit and looks very different since back then. Access to the property used to be right off US 3 into a semi-circle driveway, in front of the building, rather than in the rear like it is now. However, the rooms still have that same brown-colored front and that's why I believe it was the old Pine Valley Hotel. Anyway, if I am correct, I find it interesting on how Pine Valley bacame what it is now. If I'm wrong, I'm sure some lifelong or longtime Manch resident will set me straight.

If you know where The 99 is then that's where it was. The entrance between 99 and the drug store is just about the spot where Pine Have entrance was. That dump, The Firebird has been there as long as I can remember and has quite the reputation.
