In principle the computer can be tracked down through IP numbers, and then sometimes the location, the owner through logs, perhaps the user. However, it can be fairly time consuming and costly, and there may be legal challenges obtaining this info.
Then the legal problem comes trying to prosecute someone based on their "fishing" stories on a site like this. Many reports are exaggerated, half-truths, wishful thinking, or completely fabricated. For example, you often read that member#1 went to see A (we wish!) at XXX massage and only got a HJ after 3 visits. Next day member#2 tops this claiming that he went to A and got everything BB, including greek at his first visit and for free! Some may post untrue stories to sound cool on this site, or fabricate reports to boost their status to senior member, or to become a trusted contributing member, so others are willing to PM them with real info. We -or LE, have no way of knowing.
In conclusion, these reports are hardly usable as the only evidence. If LE then locates the provider (good luck!) and she is willing to testify (good luck again!) against the poster/monger, they may have a chance in court. And if successfull, they will manage to convict a person of a petty misdemeanor and give them a $500 fine at great public expense.
If it was more serious crimes such as terrorism, murder or rape it might be worth it locating the posters, but otherwise, going after posters on this site would only amount to a witch hunt. But of course, that could be what Rhoads is hoping for ...

You probably don't have much to worry about if, as Member#3973 said, you don't post anything that can be substantiated. It's not because you cannot be traced. It can be done. How do you think they catch folks who try to hook up with children? That the Internet is "so easily accessible" is irrelevant.
If you are posting, or even just reading from a computer at work, you are toast. Of course that depends on your company. But if you signed an AUP (appropriate use policy) at work, more than likely, your activity is logged.
If you are doing this at home, it's only a little more inconvenient to locate you, but it is done all the time.
On the Internet, as on the street, be careful out there.

I use use a proxy server that I pay for which ditches their logs after 7 days, so I could be tracked down within that window of opportunity. However, USG's server is in Toronto, any non-Canuck prosecutor would have to navigate Canadian law (and relevant treaties and agreements) before getting said IP address. She was probably asking those questions because she doesn't want to be arrested by a plainclothes police officer pretending to be a customer. In the downtown area, male police officers have often posed as customers in sting operations. Although a police officer in a sting operation isn't going to say "I am a policeman" when asked about his occupation, a provider can carefully watch and listen for any signs of nervousness or hesitation as a person answers her questions.
If you don't want to reveal your real occupation to a provider, just use another occupation that you've already decided upon in advance. However, make sure it's an occupation for which you will be able to answer any additional questions.

The only downtown provider I've recently seen who might fit that description is a transvestite, who looks feminine and can easily appear to be a woman from a distance. She is occasionally out on Kukui and Nuuanu in the daytime (also sometimes at night). However, I would describe her hair as dyed rather than "bleached." Hopefully that isn't the person you observed.
On the other hand, it could have been a woman I haven't seen before, who was making a "cameo appearance" that day. Good luck on the hunt.
