Good Point, I can freely admit I have broken every rule at least once if not more! My saviour has been good luck which I am not one to count on, I was suggesting patrol units are more inclined to lie about a monger picking up a girl to write his tickets, no they don't officially have Quotos, but they DO have basic job requirments and if you don't meet the average, you get questioned as to why you are not writing as many tickets as officer joe, who writes ten tickets a day. Some clarification for all of you:

I find that very hard to believe , Speck , if you're talking about JOHN Stings

Considering that these busts only yield Misdemeanor charges , they are tremendous drain on any PD's resources , especially in terms of man·hours

One of the main reasons the John busts are recorded is to avoid having to have the LEOs appear in court , burning up even more man·hours = once the 'perp' realizes he's on tape propositioning an UC·LEO , the only question is WHAT charge he'll plead Guilty to

And , Dog forbid you ever find your·self in this situation = try to cop a plea to Dis·orderly Conduct or some other such minor offense , because *second* busts on Prostitution charges often [ depending on the State ] carry much greater penalties , like vehicle impoundment or sex offender registration

... not to mention a lesser charge is easier to explain away to prospective employers , etc , who may learn of your Record

So far it is not Illegal to have consensual sex between to adults, Well you have to first make sure your both 18 or over, and then it's still legal as of the date of this post. If LE breaks in on two people having consensual sex it is a lawsuit waiting to happen if the girl has no priors for prostitution, it is an easy lawsuit to win. If no calls for help came from the room, and no one made a call reporting a crime the cops have no legal right to be there, well unless that has been thrown into the Patriot act as well. We still have a Constitution in this country it's what has helped guide it through for many years let's hope we have something of it left in 2 years.

LAPD does not record narcotics arrests or u/c stings, nor does it record u/c prostitution arrests of johns or ho's. Except in one case I know of where a LAPD narco unit started bringing in their own cameras and video recorders to counteract the exact things you pointed out.

As to the use of resources and the burning up of man hours....you totally misunderstand LAPD and Los Angeles politics in general. No one cares, except the poor citizens. See, Los Angeles politics places no priority whatsoever on crimes against property. House gets broken in, you might get the lazy ass cop assigned to the "u-boat" to come out about 8-10 hours later and take a crappy report with no prints and no hope of ever catching the criminal. Get your car broken into? You have to drive your car with no window to the police station. They will not come out.

Bratton has officially become an idiot if he does not recognize that the way to bust gang members and violent criminals in Los Angeles is to aggressively target gangs and also to aggressively target property crimes. But I doubt the left wingers with COMMUNIST views and IDEOLOGIES on the city council will allow the police department to take that direction. Better off targeting crimes like narcotics and prostitution that CAN NEVER BE ELIMINATED.

First, I side with neither the left or right. I spent 4 years living in one of the most right-winged cities in Texas and guess what.... their philosophy on crime was EXACTLY the same as here. It isn't a left or right issue, contrary to what you would like us to believe. It is a moral issue, and while we are speaking of moral issues, RIGHT-WINGERS fight issues of questionable morals. I seriously hope that you aren't a "Right-Winger," because the acts that you partake in seriously defy the ideals that you stand behind. I wouldn't want anyone to think you were a hypocrit.

Los Angeles political inner circles run heavily communist/socialist. Promotion of government provided housing, food, jobs, etc is the ideology and seminars promoting the use of Marxism in a post 9/11 society are not uncommon.

In a normal democratic political system with a capitalist economy, the two most important functions of government are protection of it's citizens and protection of their property. However in a communist/socialist society, the overriding function is soley protection of the citizenry. The reason is that the government will spend most of its money taking care of citizens by providing them with housing, jobs, food and other basic necessities. There is no concern for material goods as everyone is "equal"(heh, tho some are more "equal" than others). Therefore no reason for law enforcement to concern themselves with property crimes.

Anywho, thats the political ideology that penetrates Los Angeles so thats what I am addressing.

Actually I am vastly in favor of decriminalizing "victimless crimes", including narcotics and prostitution.

Frankly, our entire political system is messed up. I want to say that each person should be left to their own devices. If someone wants to smoke, and knows they will eventually get cancer due to it, so be it. But our left wing, pro big government push since the early 30's has left us in an untenable position since "society" now has to take care of this individual who has made the choice to damage his/her body. The answer of course is that government(aka society aka a "village"....I've never heard more orwellian language used) ought not take care of people.....they should be able to pay for their own health care up to their means...and then, well, be sick and face the consequences of a poor decision.

Really government should not be in our personal lives at all, within the bounds of the constitution. No need, nor enough good done, by public schools, health care, insurance, welfare, et al.

The religious influence on american politics is limited greatly by the constitution. Simply put, when a dumbass law is put into place, it is appealed. For instance, the car confiscation laws implemented by City of Los Angeles.

This does not take into consideration such things as anti pornography distribution laws(which local governments are able to properly and constitutionally regulate), prostitution laws and anti narcotics laws both of which are largely supported by boths sides, or abortion which incorrectly is set up as a nationwide law.

Can you really cite a tremendous influence the religious right has on politics other than on the above subjects? Even in electing George Bush, it was almost entirely due to the expected influence on one issue...abortion(which is entirely lame since like 35 states had legal abortion prior to Roe anyway).

OTOH, the socialist left, due to the commerce clause and also due to the push of "the great society", is able to implement virtually unlimited government influence by redistributing money. There is no supreme court challenge to most of these programs, and in the cases where there is(emminent domain), the supreme court rules in their favor.

I'm with you bro. And this hypocrisy permeates every aspect of our culture. How about the so-called War on Drugs? It's complete bullshit. Roughly 440,000 Americans die each year from smoking related illnesses. You see advertisements for cigarettes everywhere. So I can smoke and drink myself to death legally. But blow and hookers? The last few months have been interesting times. As friends and coworkers cued me into the fact that Sepulveda was fast becoming an LAPD warzone, I have blatently hit some of the hottest new girls I have seen in years.
