So I arrived in San Diego this morning and had the rest of the afternoon to kill before I had to be at a dinner.

All you need to do is print off a passport application, just like you are aplying for a new passport.Form DS-11 02-2008. On the top of the page it is asking if you want a passport or a passport card. Check the card and fill out an take it to your County Clerks office , with your current passport, I would also take a drivers liecense and birth Certificate. They will notarize it an send it off for you.

Im not sure if you can do it by mail.

I went to Chicago's and it was pretty dead. About 4-5 girls, same in clients, big, open and empty. Infact, I went to alot of the small places nearby. IF YOU HAVE A CURRENT PASSPORT BOOK THAT ISN'T EXPIRED
You can get the passport card for only $20. The way they work it is that you need to apply using the form DS-82 (Application for Passport by Mail) that you would normally use to renew a passport. They're calling the first-time issuance of a passport card to someone with a passport book a "renewal".

If you apply this way, you MUST mail in your existing passport book with the DS-82. They will send the passport book back to you in about 2-3 weeks along with a note stating they'll send the passport card later. Look for the cards to start production by June.

IF YOU HAVE A CURRENT PASSPORT BOOK BUT DON'T WANT TO MAIL IT IN
You can avoid sending in your passport book by applying with the first-time passport application form DS-11. BUT if you go that route, you'll have to have your birth certificate, apply in person at the post office or county clerk/court and pay the extra $25 execution fee.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PASSPORT
You will have to apply IN PERSON at a passport application center (post office, county clerk, some courts, some libraries). You apply with the form DS-11. You'll need proof of citizenship (birth certificate, adoption decree etc), gov't issued photo ID (DL, ID card, military ID, tribal card etc) and of course the fees. Fees for a passport card are $45....$20 for the card and $25 processing fee for the place that takes your application.

NOTE unless you apply at one of the 13 State Dept Passport Agencies, the place you turn in your application is NOT the place that makes the passports! They can't even tell you if you'll be approved or not. Their only job is to take in your application, review it, write down your ID information on the application, give you the oath and then send off your application, the fees and your proof of citizenship to a State Dept facility that will actually decide if you get the passport and then produce it.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Not that any of you gents fall into this category but...One reason that you will be denied a passport is if you are being reported as delinquent on child support. I know a guy who shows up on a delinquency roster for child support and got denied his passport. Problem is he paid the money to his ex but he sent the money directly to her not to some county agency. When he showed copies of the money orders and her letter saying she got the money, the county told him tough shit--any monies that don't go through the county is considered a gift! So even though the "kids" are grown and have kids of their own, the county wants that "past due" $8,000 to make it all go away. Until he can get that resolved, the State Dept will not issue him a passport. So, he and his current wife have to go on their cruise this year while it's still okay to use a DL+birth certificate for cruises.

Mtnman2000, I forgot about your pesos question. Did you find out on your own that the Greenback carries more weight in TJ than pesos? What's funny is that isn't true for all Mexico. Vacationed in Puerto Vallarta and VERY few places took US dollars. Luckily ATMs were plentiful. I was ashamed to be American while at this one dive hole in the wall because this yuppie family (mom, dad, 2 kids, probably drive a Town & Country) came in to have dinner. Then the complaints started, "Don't you have Pepsi?" "Ewww these chips taste funny!" etc. And then the biggie from dad: "What do you mean you don't take dollars! These are worth more than your money!" Asshole! He was pissed that he had to leave the family and go down the block to an ATM. heh when he came back he was muttering about the damned machine only had instructions in Spanish. Welcome to Mexico, dick.

Some of the safety tips given to US chicas hitting the bars holds true when in the dicey areas of TJ...avoid dark spaces if traveling alone, only drink beers that you personally open or see being opened, try about 1/4 of the drink and get a fresh one if it seems funky etc. Or, if you can find them, carry a couple of those cardboard coasters that will change color if exposed to X, roofie etc. It goes without saying that you should never leave your drink unattended when you go to the toilet.

Hahaha I remember that beer stealing bullshit from years ago when I hit TJ on a semi-regular basis. That's a good tip about the beer coozie. If you wanted a place to stay, you coulda called my ex-g/f in Chula Vista. Of course you'd want to kill yourself as she's a black hole of emotional want and need.

Cialis can take affect in about 30 min. If you're taking it for sport sex it should be in full force after about 60-90 minutes. You should be good to go for up to 12 hours. In my experience, if you are going to spend a lot of money, pesos in absolutely the way to go. Let us say the conversion is (it changes all the time) is $10 US = 110 pesos. Now when dealing with " people" if something is say 200 pesos they will want $20. 00 US which is 20 pesos more ($1. 10 US). That seems small and it is but if you are there for a few days or a frequent visitor and spend say $500 US by using pesos you would have saved $27. 50. Thats a free streetgirl. LOL You save even more through any tipping (cause you can beat them at there game and act like you do not know your being cheap). Now if you are going to spend $50-$60 US once then it might not be worth it to you. When my dumb ass goes for extended stay trip I spend over $1000 US. That is chicas, smokes, food, hotel, drinking and shopping. They do sell more then chicas there. Carton of cigs are less then $13 dollars US. Now we are talking around $60 U. S savings. Still not enough to fill your gas tank now days but why give it to them?

So really depending on your spending is what you should do. One last benefit from using pesos is look like you have been there before and will be treated better. Being treated better adds to your savings.
