I don't think it's a Korean thing either because it makes the local people that work in the bar think the same way. It's like if you don't adapt to the bar mentality you don't survive. Money makes people do very bad things! Your only drawback is how far will you go to get what you want.

They have totally assimilated into the KB lifestyle and defend the actions of KBGs as valid and necessary. Of course, IMO.

Since the need seems to be desperate in most cases it could be inferred that the reasons might be suspicious or evil. You won't get the truth from the KBGs anyway so why care? Sounds callous but self-preservation is better than filling an endless KBG money pit.

Its like anything and evreywhere in life. Its all the same to matter were you go. You have to learn when to trust and how to build loyality. For me it has helped me in the 30+ ys. I learned very early on in my bar days. I hope you will use this to yours.

BGs being smart where they are thinking about self preservation vs feeling bad over some LVB customer. Why invest time / money into someone whom you think cares but doesn't give a damn? You're doing things & spending money on a BG far more than she will ever do for you in return.

I actually dated a KBG before I even knew she was a KBG. It was really fun while it lasted and I got to meet a lot of KBG's outside of work here and the mainland. The age different was about 8 years with me being younger which really made it exciting I guess for both of us. I guess in the end, things just didn't work out because of her lifestyle and work plus our age gap.

While we were dating, things were really great! She treated me really well and I'm pretty sure spent more money than I in the relationship. She use to buy clothes, watches, sunglasses, etc. Without me even asking for things. I also saw the good real side of a lot of KBG's and got along with most of them.

So what I'm basically saying is, they have 2 sides to them. They make really good girlfriends and probably even wives when you get a chance. But it's really really difficult to infiltrate that side of them. At work, they sort of have a protective shell around them and they question the motive of everything you do for them because they probably got burned a time or two in the past. You could be the nicest guy in the world but if you go into a Korean Bar to see them, it raises suspicion. They'll always think something is up and you're probably not real Boyfriend material seeing as how you go to that type of place.

P. S. If you want to make one of them your gf or wife and give up the bar scene, you're going to need to be able to support them financially. They pretty much have no other job skill that is prestigious enough and pays enough for them to give up their pride and work.

Stop at Twilight lastnight and was a little busy. Saw a skinny lady that had nice body but was bit older than saw a not bad looking girl with short brown hair. Brought bebe a drink. You can tell her age is showing or its from stress.

I stayed at her place, she cooked and everything, but in the end, I kind of called it off (cause of financials) , and not once said she loved me. Then later, come to find out, she was really into me. SHe was taken home back to Korea. SHe all of a sudden had Cancer so her parents came down and took her home. Her good friend works at Lilac. Heard diferent stories about her. That her boyfriend bought her the bar and later borrow money from her but never paid her back.

I was never into the hostess bar scene when I was drinking. Can only think of two occassions that I went in twenty plus years in Honolulu. Now that I don't drink I doubt if I would ever go. But I am just curious. The high price that customers pay for the drinks. What percentage of that goes to the girl and what percentage goes to the house? Do these bars have a better profit margin than an average bar without the hostesses, all other factors being equal?

Thanks[/QUOTE]It will cost you $20 a drink for the girl (Some try to upsell to $40). Girl gets $15 and the house gets $5 is the average. Some shift a dollar or two either way. Most hostesses are free-lancers although there are exceptions where the house actually pays the girl a small amount plus the ever important health insurance. It just depends upon the girls "quality" and customer base plus whether or not the owner wants to fly a little bit legit. I'm sure others have better info, but, that's the basics.

I have dated a KBG. We broke up at least a year ago. The hardest thing for me is when they have to talk to their customers and you are with them. I have talked about this before and fellow mongers were telling me that KBG's are no good. This is their lifestyle and they know how to suck the money out of you. I went with her for almost 4 years before we broke up. I think she wanted out of the relationship because my money was running out. We fell out of touch and just started seeing her again, just on a friend basis to eat lunch and drive her around. She used to call me couple times just to pick her up at the bar because she was too drunk but I never did because I didn't hear my phone. One word of advice to all who have or are going with a KBG. Don't fall in love with one and don't get her pregnant. I did fall in love with her and probably still am but luckily she didn't get pregnant. The weird thing now is that we have lunch now and then and she doesn't even ask me to buy her things, I just drive her around. Maybe she just realizes that not too many guys would do that kind of stuff for her. Just my 2 cents worth.

I've noticed that the MNF is not very busy. Certainly not as busy as in prior years. Probably there are many reasons for it, but basically it is the economy, And it will get worse next year. The KBG's are feeling the consequence of this bad economy and are getting worried and desperate. So to all the KBG's they better clean up their act and change their shitty attitudes as more and more mongers are joining the boycott.

The bartenders get pair something like $300. 00 a month that's for being bartenders. Casue they have to bring there own food for the customer House pupus and there food are totally different. Doing with the LC the girls have to punch in cause it shows that they are working over ther so they have to have a time card. If they forget to punch in and the LC comes in the mama gets fine. If you go to the bars late sometimes you see the girl punch out and then drink with you a bottle beer. SHe can cause she is not on the clock. This is true. Use the economy so that we have the upper hand. Take out is easier these days. I am using the downturn to my advantage. Am getting take out I would not have considered feasible in better times.

I was sitting with a girl from Butterfly a year ago and she was matching me shot for shot / beer for beer. One time when she wasn't looking, I switched the shots. I was getting a little suspicious of her tolerance. When I drank it, it was the same kind of watered down stuff I was drinking. Not bad, I thought myself. Then, she starts getting a pink glow after the third shot / beer. So I think it does depend on the girl and the bar. Plus, I was sitting at the bar with her. I noticed that the bartender were giving both of drinks from the same bottle poured and beers from the same fridge. This is all from my personal adventures of KB mongering.

I remember the Hana from Maui had a Pontiac Firebird there, but she didn't have a valid driver's license. I believe she got a new license sometime in 2007. Could this be the same Hana?

Probably going be recycled KBGs but without much going for the KBs nowadays, it will be sort of interesting to see who shows. KBGs coming from ewa-side of Ward Avenue and will be "new" girls for me so will give it a try and hope for the best. But I agree that KB new carpets and paint cannot distract from good service and attitude; look before you leap.
