When I read your first post on the subject I went into a "hmmmm, I wonder what the numbers would be" mode and proceeded from there. You see, I enjoy reading all the other stuff but sometimes my mind wanders to other subjects too include odds making, returns on investments, pension calculations, mortgage interest rates, etc. Of course, I tried to work the numbers as averages but, as you pointed out, they skew depending upon where you place the participating batters in terms of positions. Naturally, #1 and #2 with have the most shots in the rotation, however, I would think if they are known to be strike out prone against a particular pitcher, well I would assume the manager would place them deeper in the lineup maybe as deep as #8 and #9 (assuming they were not benched altogether). Problem is, the problem just has too many permutations to come up with definitive answers.
With regards to the forum in particular, just a couple of thoughts, impressions, opinions. It all just is not important. NONE of the participants are my brother, nor do they EVER speak for me and NO I have never met GO or the Jaritsuh guy, in fact, the only one I did meet ONCE was (and I already posted commented on that) Oldee. It was a good meeting as we had several disagreements over the years, however, we still could agree to disagree in a pleasant way. In fact, I bought him a few as I felt I owed the guy for what I perceived as a few lost arguments on my part. Now, about Barry Sanders:0.

Regarding your comment about the manager moving #1 and 2 hitters to the 8th and 9th spots, there's no way a manager would do that even if they were prone to K against the pitcher. They are in those hitting spts for a reason, and shuffling the lineup that drastically would just throw off everyone who would already be accustomed to their spots in the lineup. Anyway, I was just pointing out a scenario where those two could get struck out 5 times without the pitcher having to give up "30 plus hits", as you said would be necessary in your computations. So as you then realized and conceded, it is VERY possible. In fact I bet RJ had struck out 2. Guys 5 times many times in his career, without giving up 30 plus hits or anything close to that.
