Deposits are always scams except when they aren't, and in that case they still are
She is real and has been around for a very long time, previous name she used escapes me at the moment but I have seen her way back when. That however does not mean she isn't scamming now, but a deposit doesn't ALWAYS mean a scam, it's just more apt to occur as they have no reason to perform if they can get a few bucks for nothing.
Wise!
Yeah, I know what you're saying, but unfortunately nuance is dead and "sometimes it isn't some times it is" gives guys enough wiggle room to hear what they want to hear, which is "oh surely the girl I'm talking to is cool and won't scam me!
I do think that all deposits are scams, but not necessary every deposit will be scammed. I think if you get laid after sending a deposit, then 9 other guys got scammed by that same girl and you just go lucky. It was still a scam, just not for you.
Anyways, when it comes to advise on this board, it's better to just constantly reiterate they are all scams. Yes, if a girl is well known and well reviewed then it's lower, but if guys would stop falling for them and stop humoring girls who do them, they would become less frequent.
Paying for gas or anything in advance is a deposit.
Paying for gas or anything in advance is a deposit.
I've never paid a deposit, per se, but a couple of times I sent a girl $10 or $15 for gas, in advance, and got scammed both times. I knew that was likely, but I risked the small amount of cash and wasn't shocked when I lost it.
That being said, a lot of guys are flaky and time wasters too, so I could see some of the more in demand providers, just filtering the more serious customers by insisting on a deposit, in advance. I'm sure that does happen, but it has to be relatively rare that the woman is honest and just doesn't run off with the $$ There are some honest girls out there, but they are clearly in the minority.
So like everything else in this hobby, it's a numbers game. If you have a realistic view of the odds, going in, then you can make a rational decision of whether to pay a deposit or (usually) not.
