However bear in mind that the Union itself benefits financially from each worker and will charge a fee for this new contract taken out from each month as "dues". Then of course State and Federal taxes kick in eroding what gains they have gotten. If the Union had a strike fund, then this compensation during the strike will also be taxed as "income". Yes, you are correct, it'll take quite some time to make up for the wages lost.

And this is why the State's unemployment laws are discrimination against all those unemployed except those of the construction UNIONIZED workers who do not have to look for three potential employees while collecting unemployment benefits including weekly wages. They just need to put down on their application as "UNIONIZED" status. Once their union finds employment, then they go back to work. It's a scam that has not been sued as of yet, so those lawyers out there looking for cases, this is one that needs to be addressed.

I didn't do the cals but you're correct, it'll take a hell of a long time to make

up for all the loss wages during the strike.

Six percent over a four year period isn't that great.

Appears management got the best, save most of the loss wages.

Now increase the room rates to cover the 6% , well as long as the workers happy.

Lost revenue may not qualifiers as write off, will affect revenue earnings.

How ever each entity has its own budget, schedule, forecast, and business plan.

The hit to room occupancy is temporary, Hawaii is popular enough that people will fill the rooms.

They make more than many with degrees. I would gladly higher someone with a degree, speaks english (good enough to understand 2 sides of a convo well) and has somewhat of better thinking skills over a GED worker who can't see how good 23 an hour was to start off with. One should be enough if you work to put yourself in that position. Don't be a replaceable drone and give yourself some worth.

Ige is the same pushing for legislature to pass a $850 million bail out for Big Island Mayor Kim's request to rebuild the lava damage to Leilani Estates and Paradise Park where he had his second beach front home destroyed. Did the governor did anything to ease the financial burden that 50,000 migrants currently living in Hawaii requires another $1. 2 billion dollar medical expense that taxpayers are stuck with? No.

I've been a shop steward in a union and it has some benefits for workers when the union is corrupt and in cahoots with incompetent management. Had to file formal charges against both for breach of contract when the company illegally laid off 95% of coworkers the day before Christmas even though the labor contract expired a few weeks later in Jan 10. We won that case and company management had to honor the contract and pay severance pay, holidays earned, Cobra medical coverage for six months plus pension. They tried to pull a fast one and demand bonuses for "saving" the company money at end of year planning but that fell through when Federal judge ruled in our favor.

One thing is sure, old timers do not want to study even when education benefits are to be paid by the company.
