Backpage Censored Themselves
Best of luck to everyone effected both guys and girls, I suspect this to be overturned in a district court very soon, and if not, you'll find somewhere else. When CL more or less went down on this 5 years ago, BP was the hot thing in like 5 or 6 days afterward. I suspect it will be the same this time as well, maybe it will be USA Sex Guide Classifieds. Who knows, but something will.
According to the "legit" news reports (NBC News, LA Times, etc.), they censored themselves. The Republicans in the Senate came out with a report on Backpage's activities and the people who run Backpage decided to self-censor their site just before they were due to testify before the Senate. So, unfortunately, there's nothing for any Federal court to overturn.
Congressional Hearing on Youtube
If that's true, then BP's claims of unconstitutional censorship are bullshit. If they'd left the ads alone, they'd have likely been safe, at least on legal grounds. There's plenty of precedent for publishers not being liable or responsible for ad content. If they were actually modifying the ads, they blew it.
Before you click this link, it lasts 1 Hour and 32 minutes. But opening statements last 16 minutes and that is all I watched.

It had only 330 views when I found it. BP has been taking in about $150 million a year. It is alleged that in recent years criteria for screening ads have been relaxed, presumably because too many ads were being rejected. It is also alleged that ad content and images were altered by screeners in order to accept the ads. BP has been refusing to comply with congressional requests for information. I'm sure there is much more in the link, so have at it, if so motivated.
