Xanadu & Other Lousy Parlors
Does anyone know how crappy parlors like Xanadu manage to pay their rent and keep the lights on? I've always wondered, considering everything we hear about the rising cost of rent & utilities. With regard to Xanadu, it historically has lousy reviews here and the most recent review on RM was over a year ago. I recall it's sandwiched between a hair salon and a teriyaki joint, with a Tae Kwondo school on the other end. Does someone own all of these businesses and they spread their money out between them? Just seems like it should have shut down by now.
95% of Seattle AMPs are actually ggps. Granny garbage parlors
The popular narrative is these ggps never make any profit, but they serve the purpose of Chinese money laundring. That and Seattle being a mecca for wealthy clueless simps helps keep them in business too.
You got to remember for every 1 person that does a review there are probably 50 more that don't. So even if they have shit reviews they will always johns who don't know any better and keep going.
ILuvA and CaptainP make valid points: many mongers, unaware of this board, go in blind. They get what they get and maybe they figure that's as good as it gets? So they keep paying.
Not sure I agree with the money-laundering hypothesis. Why open a secondary illicit business to launder money from a primary illegal source? AMP owners who've been charged with crimes are often pursued under anti-racketeering laws and sometimes human trafficking laws. Those who've faced money-laundering charges were often owners who used casinos to launder their money.

Take it with a grain of salt and just realize that pretty much every illegal industry is tied into money-laundering at some level.
