Besides looking out for your stuff and the truism that YMMV and you should always secure your stuff to protect it, there's another way to look at it. Even if it's someone you "trust", why would you want to tempt them to stray?
Not tellin' anyone else what to do with their time, money, and energy; but is just plain makes sense to me to ALWAYS lock up your stuff. (NOT that I always do and NOT that I haven't gotten burned by it!
