A woman asking us to call from the hotel parking lot is not unusual. She will watch from inside to see if we arrive alone before giving us the room number. She wants a look-see. She also knows LE never travels alone, and is never without back-up. So this feature is not alarming where there is street parking.
I can see her observing us from the street instead where parking is on the street. She can blend in with the crowd, spot any confederates we may have, a second car, whatever, and approach us when we look okay and the coast is clear. Suggesting a drink first is not out of the ordinary either. She would see no reason to get in the car herself if a place to get a drink is a few doors away and we would be getting out of the car anyway. I can see that an in-call / out-call escort might not be aware we would interpret discussion outside the car as a classic LE move. So there might have been nothing untoward about to happen. For this explanation to be safe, it must be safe 10 times out of 10. 9 out of 10 is not good enough. The situation that Indiana Johns described is not safe 10 times out of 10. Too many facts must add up in her favor.
Second, what happened on the street caught Indiana Jones by surprise. We should never allow ourselves to be surprised. The minute anything happens off-script we should get the dickens away.
