Not everyone can get a passport. Maybe it would look bad arriving in the mail and the wife and you don't have a vacation planned. Maybe you can't find your birth certificate or your license expired etc. Its important to be accurate. If guys want to go to HK legally, passport is not required. Get someone to drive you in or walk through otay. Legally they have to let you return. If they don't you can sue for millions like the rest of the people who don't get in due to border patrol screw ups. And if you look Latino you can walk in at trolly crossing no problem.

Went down there with a buddy a few years back to buy a part for his truck. Looked around after we fucked around with that and to be honest I could even find a decent regular bar to go to in town. My Global Entry card expired. I renewed it. I got it in the mail. I entered Mexico, no issue (and as many of us has said, you can ENTER Mexico without a question, most of the time). When I presented my brand spankin' new Global Entry Card upon returning I was informed I had not activated it. I apologized and indicated it was an honest mistake. I was not aware I needed to activate it. I volunteered to go through the regular line with my passport (which I had with me) but was told I had to go into the naughty room and be cleared there. OK. I went in there. There were no other people except me and two border guards who ignored me for 30 minutes. When they got good and ready, one called me up, lectured me on the need to activate my card (and wouldn't activate it, indicating I had to do that on my own) and then let me pass.
You are a pure idiot if you think for one minute that the border guards have a sense of humor or even a sense of duty to help you get back into the US of A. That has to be the worst job on earth and they all probably hate it and look forward to taking it out on guys who don't follow the rules.
And, and this is important, no you can't sue the US Government for not letting you in and collect millions. Read this on "sovereign immunity":

I did a search and found one case that has been pending for three years, a Somali immigrant who was on the terror watch list who was detained at the Canadian border for 11 hours is suing, with the backing of the ACLU. It has been tied up for three years and isn't going anywhere fast. So, yeah, go ahead and try that approach. Enough of us on this thread have have told our real stories, and not made up bullshit or hearsay. Trust me, not having a passport will probably cause you a headache, and could cause you great delay.
Or, get a fuckin' passport and play by the rules.

A US citizen cannot be denied entry to the US once they are on US soil, with or without a passport. However you must be able to convince the immigration officials that you are a US citizen. With a drivers license or a birth certificate, you can usually do that, but you will probably be taken to secondary screening and it COULD take many hours for you to be processed. However I have traveled many times with medical patients returning from procedures in Mexico, and they very often do not have passports. With documentation from the doctor/hospital and only a DL/birth certificate, they are almost never even delayed in crossing (we usually use the Medical vehicle lane though).
Also, per the usa.gov web site ([URL]https://www.usa.gov/enter-us[/URL]#item-34787), an enhanced drivers license is satisfactory for land crossing from Mexico. You do NOT need a passport for that, and could probably get an EDL without arousing suspicion from the wife.

They get angry about a rule being sidestepped or worked around. I've met couple guys in hk who showed up with buds with no passport. They wanted to do hk. Not everyone gives enough crap about hk to get a passport. They may just go with friends once or twice in a life. Majority Americans don't own a current passport. Waiting 30 minutes to a hour in border patrol office is no big deal. Vehicles all wait in line 2 hours to return. And anyway it's all legal, to both go in, and return with no passport. I'm in line and watching all the kids go through every day with a photocopy of their birth certificate. I live in a city with 70% of the population either here illegally, or working illegally. So no I'm not sweating border patrol nor taking it seriously.

I believe the customs officials have access to the DMV records and can view your DL info. They can verify your citizenship status that way I believe.

Last week I did my normal rounds and spent some time at each of the main clubs. Each one was packed, which is surprising during the time I went. There were a lot of Asians in town. Returned to HK because of the talent and continued to be quoted $100, by even the less attractive girls. Finally got a few down to $80, but decided to do one more look around Tropicana. Glad I returned.
I sat down at a table in Tropicana and eyed a very young, tall and thin girl talking with a customer. He ordered her a drink and sat with her. I want to apologize in advance if any of you were this guy, but I continued to give her glances. Every time I looked over she would continued to make eye contact with me while the guy talked.
She quickly finished her drink and came and sat near me, but not directly next to me.
Decided to go over and ask if she was ready to go up. She gladly smiled and quoted $80. I said that wouldn't work and she asked what I wanted to pay. I told her $40, she thought hard about it and agreed. Didn't speak English well, but I told her that the $40 included CIM. (I always try to add a little something) She didn't agree and I began to walk, but to my surprise she grabbed my hand and gave me a little nod with her head.
Everything was covered. She had some baby damage, but all natural Cs. When it came to the finished she went down on her knees and started to have second thought and wanted me to finish on her chest. I slowly opened her mouth and she smiled and let it happen. I don't think she realized what she was getting in to. Let's just say it's been more then a few days since I've had a release. After the third shot, it began to overflow over her lips and she got up and ran to the sink. Not without a few loads landing on her chest.
I'm not sure why I was so lucky. She must've found me super attractive or she just loves what she does. Even after getting the best bargain ever in my long time doing this, she gave me her number and ask for me to visit again before she leaves in two weeks.
Moral of the story, be patient and find that special one.

Just maseros standing around with party decorations serving not too many customers and even less chicas. One NYE I left the zona out of boredom by 8-9 and went up to revolucion where the bars were packed but definitely a younger crowd. This was maybe 6-7 years ago. Things may have changed but I've always found Christmas and New Years to be not worth going down. The week leading up to Christmas is probably your best bet. Moe.
