Chicago was actually the first of the clubs to remodel itself into something appealing to the gringo crowd and especially the asian crowd. It is still a nice club but hasn't kept up with the others, but sadly it has become irrelevant in any discussion of contemporary Tijuana because it is and has been a ghost town for several years. Getting more and more deserted just when it seemed it couldn't get any more deserted. No chicas, no customers. Having said that, it is still worth a visit because the few chicas they have around are nice, the vibe once you hook up with them is a million times better than super hustle Adelita and Hong Kong, and the service is going to be better generally than in the other gringo clubs (though Hong Kong is still pretty good in the service dept.). We are literally talking about maybe half a dozen chicas at any given time (maybe more daytime, I don't know). Some of them just use the place to arrange outdates with regular clients. But walk in, have a beer and you might end up quite surprised to find a hot friendly chica.
The place can't possibly have made a profit for years. So one can only imagine how it possibly continues to be in operation. It was the number one club for the hottest chicas when I discovered the zona in the mid-90's. Actually just an unbelievable array of beautiful young women in cocktail dresses lining the bar and the walls and on the dance floor all dancing together to advertise their presence and their hotness. In those years, Adelita had dozens of older less attractive women as they were still concentrating on appealing to the locals crowd with a lower budget. Chicago remained my favorite gringo club over the years but ultimately I prefer the locals dives that don't cater to gringos. I hope this club will find a route back to its former glory, but for now as far as most regular Tijuana mongers are concerned, it doesn't exist.
My experience with Chicago club has been that it's dead during the day and has a small crowd after 9PM. I make it a habit to have a drink or two in CC when I'm in Tijuana during the night as I have pulled a few gems from this club. I have also wondered how this club seems to stay afloat.

Camel,
Back in the early 60's, when I was going down to Tijuana, I don't know what political party was in charge and didn't really care. It was a 24/7 town back then and most of the patron's of all the bars on Revolucion were sailors and Marines out on liberty.
I don't remember seeing any asians down there then, but then that wasn't what I was looking for. :D Back then every other store front, on both sides of the street from the northern-most beginning of the Blvd., all the way down to the Jai Lai Palace, was a bar. And with the exception of Mikes Bar, which was for drinking only, no women there, every one of them had hookers working in them. And it seemed like ALL of them were young and about 90% of them were good looking.
As soon as you would walk into any of them, you would be attacked by every working girl there. They would come up and rub themselves on you and grab your crotch. The one's that didn't get you at the door would wait until you sat down before coming over to you and doing the same thing. If you were smart, you never bought a girl a drink because they always ordered,"champagne", which was nothing more than Canada Dry and cost you ten bucks for a glass. You just picked out the one you wanted and went to one of the backrooms. And, before any of the fun stuff would start, your choice would wash off your dick with a wet towel from a pan of water that was standard equipment for every room in the house.
From what I've read here on some of the previous posts, inflation has really fucked up the price of pussy. Back then, short time was $20.00 and a BJ was $15.00. Oh well.... :(
OK then, happy to reminisce a little more and I have a book inside me about Chicago and several about Tijuana overall. But I envy guys like Dirty Old Guy who prowled Tijuana before the gringos came en masse, and before the PAN party controlled the municipal government more often than not. The old ruling PRI party was anything goes and the conservative PAN has been unfriendly to the so-called zones of tolerance. Right now PRI is back in power in Tijuana which resulted in the bars going back to all night fiestas after the PAN had imposed shutdowns by 3AM which meant the bars were getting cleared out and chairs being put on tables by 2:30. But Tijuana as a 24 hour town is back.
When I discovered Chicago it was dominated by "whales" from asia and asian american customers. Caucasian gringos started coming in but always very few Mexicanos. The music was disco, rock, and latino pop, but never the latino dance music featured in the other bars (cumbia, salsa, ranchero, merengue). The "Your tip is my salary" sign in the men's room was in 5 languages. The first three Asiatic languages, then spanish, then english! I don't want to say the chicas were exactly trained, but the clear culture of the club was to appeal to the asian clientele which meant the girls were not supposed to be openly aggressive or pinch your ass or grab your package as you walked by as the Adelita girls would. In fact, they were pretty much beautiful emotionless stoic mannequins. Newbie gringos were actually intimidated as many were in a regular singles bar meet market. The girls were beautiful and didn't seem easy like they did at the other bars. Of course once you made eye contact and demonstrated interest you got a warm smile in return. The game was to have a waiter invite the chica to your table. Once she was there, she was your happy fiance. The stoicism washed away the instant you said "hola, mucho gusto" and bought her a drink.
So Chicago was unique in its quality and presentation. But amazingly that worked against it as the monger mass apparently preferred to have chicas attacking them the minute they walked inside in bars like Adelita.
The original Hong Kong opened in the late 90's and its name and style was an open challenge to Chicago's courting of asian and asian american clientele. And they stole many of the celebrity Chicago chicas of the time. Chicago held its ground as a dominant club into the early 2000's, but Hong Kong was incredibly creative and aggressive and just ran over the competition like a Monster Truck by around 2009. In the meantime, Chicago withered and passed into an ongoing coma.
I didn't mention Tropical. It has long been one of my favorite places where I consistently get the best service from adorable young 19 year olds fresh off the bus from Sinaloa, but physically it is still a locals oriented dump which most gringo traffic moves away from after a quick look. Plenty of gringos and especially asian americans in there, but mostly, its the same group of hardcore regulars who got comfortable here many years ago.
Reporting back from the Tijuana trip:
We went to the border via the trolley, took the short walk to the border and crossed. Immediately got into a yellow cab for 6 bucks got to adelitas. About five women in there who were above a 7 or 8. The rest probably 6's. Took one upstairs for BBBJ, CFS 50 bucks for half hour. Left happy, waited an hour to cross back and that was that. I'll repeat.
1) Passport card yes. My buddy does it all the time.
2) I've seen all the pharmacies advertise.
3) If your on an absolute time critical mission:
San Diego. Boarder: 45 mins.
Parking lot. Taxis: 15 mins.
Taxi ride: 10 mins.
Pick a girl and fuck her for. 5 hr: 45 mins.
Taxi ride back: 10 mins.
Taxi drop off point back to your car: 15mins + 'unknown time to wait for the line'
Drive back to San Diego: 45 mins.
This is prolly the absolute minimum time you can do it in. 'unknown time to wait for the line' should not be too bad if you're coming back early evening, prolly about 15 mins.
You're probably looking at like 3. 5 hours. I've made these estimates purposefully generous in regards of adding a little extra time to account for any minor unforeseen delays.
Tall,
You didn't go down to Tijuana until the late 90's?!?! You must be a young whippersnapper. :D

First Trip
My first trip wasn't until around 2000 but I live in the Midwest. Got addicted quick. Used to be extended stays a couple times a summer but now I plan on once a year for 3-4 days.

Adding to Memory Lane
My first visit was in mid 2000's, heard a lot from a co worker who use to visit a lot and told us to go to CC. They said most of the guys were asian and that is who they cater to. My first visit was amazing, ton's of girls that you can just pick up and fuck, it was like an adult version of disneyland. Later on, when I came back, CC was begining to die out and AB was where all the girls went to. I went there plenty of times during the late 2000's until recently, it appears HK has taken over as the top dog on the strip.
The memories of that place is awsome, drinking chating with your buds and spending time with the chicas freely without the fear of LE.

Hard To Believe
Hard to believe that most mongers from SD area have not dreamt of going to Tijuana since their teens. I went as soon as the military for me close before Tijuana I enjoyed trips across Laredo Texas to boystown. Now there was a place out of a western movie.

Curfew on Sundays
Hey guys, I've got a buddy coming into town this weekend and he wants to visit Tijuana on Sunday night before his flight out on Monday afternoon. The thing is he won't get out of his engagement on Sunday until late, so if we went, we wouldn't arrive until like 2 or 3am. I haven't been in a while with all the drama going on down there, but I do remember they put a curfew in effect at one point? Is that still true? Are we SOL with this last minute plan of ours? We have no problems coming back whenever on Monday since I took a sick day and his flight isn't until late afternoon.
Thanks for any words of wisdom.

Sleep
I would get packed and a good night of sleep. Hit the zona Monday around brunch, eat tacos while looking for fresher chicas.

Picking are much slimmer, but at least there is less competition with other hobbyist. The ones I've pick up early in the day have better attitudes then the night time chicas. Either way have fun.

What about the Long Bar?
Tall,
You didn't go down to Tijuana until the late 90's? You must be a young whippersnapper. .
Is that place still going strong? Used to go there a lot when I went to SDSU.

Yea, I remember the Long Bar. That and Mikes were the only two that were "straight". You went there to do the hardcore drinking, and every other bar on Revolution for hardcore pussy. :D
I have no idea if it's still there or not.
BTW, you must be a young whippersnapper too. I went to San Diego State College before they changed it to University! :D

Need some help
Hey guys,
I live in the LA area and always thought it might be pretty cool to take a trip down to Tijuana but somehow I never felt motivated enough to do that as I won't save much in cost by the time I get there and everything is all said and done. Up until now I haven't had a reason, my doctor has prescribed accutane for a skin condition that I have developed. My insurance does not cover this medication and it is more than $700 for a single month supply, I need to take it for 5 months.
I'm asking if anyone on this forum could just ask someone in a Mexican pharmacy how much a month supply of 30, 40 mg pills of accutane costs down there. I have heard the drug also goes by roaccutane and ofcourse I don't mind taking a generic form. Online someone mentioned something about Benavides being a reputable pharmacy. Not sure but any help and your time would be really appreciated. Thanks so much for your help.
Now, I promise if I go down to Tijuana and session, I will do my best to bring back a few pics.
