Sad to say there is more viewing than playing. Playing is with yourself, if at all. Some stands discourage even that, while others are more friendly.

Asking for the number is a diplomatic, non-threatening / agressive way of asking her if she is open to meeting outside of her work. It gives her the freedom to do what she wants without the pressure or insinuations. If she gives you her number, the chances of seeing her go up considerably.
