If more knew the cost of publishing an obituary they'd understand how many don't get published these days. It was north of $1 k for a reasonable number of words.

I believe a newspaper obit isn't the only option. If you do a funeral (how can you not? The funeral home will usually publish an online obit (for free? Partly to attract attention to their services.
